Oh Annie, you don't want to know how little time I've spent fretting over Bubba's nap/o'nite sleep issues compared with trying to get Pasha to go to sleep and stay asleep longer than 30 mins. I know, i know O/T but try avoiding it witha toddler running in the room and deliberately dropping his heavy toys by the crib or banging on a door 2 doors away to be let in !

A times/sleep tr'g/Ap issues............ha ha ha !

We'll fix Bubba with some shorter A times.........it's Pasha's sleep I'm more motivated to fix...........before we move whenever that may be !

Later, over yonder darlink !

So he slept 11 hours and twenty minutes with two nw's (very unusual for him).  He is inconsolable at times today and just took a 1 hour and 20 minute nap.  ::)

I'm lost.  He seemed like he was catching up, now this.

I'm tired tired tired.

Well, truth be told, 2 days ago I had him asleep for his nap at 5 hours and 5 minutes a-time (10:55).  He only did an hour 25 though (thus woke at 12:21!!  Ugh!!).  (He was asleep 6 hours later that night (6:20pm), slept for 11:20 hours with 2 short wakings.)  He’s struggling today.

So, yesterday, I tried to push the nap along a little and had him in the crib at 5 hours and twenty minutes.  He fell asleep for his nap at 5 and forty minutes a-time (11:20).  Then the one hour and 20 minute nap.  So I guess I pushed him a little too much??  ::) :P

But how am I ever going to push these times along?  I’m lying here awake at 5am, waiting to hear him……..

So it’s ok to keep moving nap/bedtimes around like this, iyo?  Am I doing this right?

I think we have hit SA on top of this.  I don’t know if his behavior yesterday was from OT to be honest (and I ALWAYS swear that EVERYTHING is from OT, lol  ;D )

I guess I should have him in the crib no later than 5 hours and 5 minutes today for a max of 5 and 20 this am?  The thing is, a week and a half ago took a nice long nap after an a-time of 5 hrs and 30!!  But he had a couple short nights (sleepwise) this week, so I guess we’re catching up. My goodness.

Tx Layla.  :)

You know, as I think about it, I think I might have his afternoon a-times too long (5.5-6hrs).  Could that be making his am naps too short??

I think the first sign of OT for us here might be shorter naps.

What do you think?

I think I might have said this before.... in our case the A times before bedtime are more important than A times before nap time. So maybe try ever earlier bedtime and because he will wake up better rested, you can push the nap forward.

But 11+hr night is a good thing... right?

Oh, yes 11 plus hours is a beautiful thing indeed!!  Even if it does only equal a 5:40am wake!!  : )  But I read what you said somewhere else (they really should just make a “LAYLA’s ADVICE” thread for goodness sake as far as I’m concerned) that I will start to notice a normal (if still early) wake up time for him. (aka 5:40ish lately)  He’ll still PROBABLY sleep til that time if I put him in even earlier than I have been.  Equalling more night, sleep which is never a bad thing!  Maybe then I’ll have less am grouchies and I won’t dread playgroup so much, lol!  Then I can start to push everything ahead.

OK, I always thought he could handle a long afternoon a-time, but since nothing else is really falling into place here, I’m going to go for it.  5 hours a-time tonite!  Fingers X’d it doesn’t mean we wake at 4am!!  : )

No matter what happens, it’s nice to know you’re here to help! Tx!

I guess Siria is doing ok!!  Good girl!

OK, Layla.

He took a 2 and a half hour nap yesterday!!!  YAYAYAY.  Then I had him asleep last night by 5 hours and ten minutes a-time.  He slept ‘til 6am (11 hours and 20 minutes)!!  YAYAYAYAY again!!  So, I’m thinking, we’re getting there!

THEN:  Today I had him in the crib at 10:45 to be asleep by 11ish for his nap (5 hours a-time).  He has been singing/fussing/singing in the crib for over an hour!!!  WTF???  It is now NOON!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought maybe we had started to lick this, but this is crazy!!  He keeps trying to go down (gets quiet for a minute of two), but can’t seem to.  Maybe he is not tired because he got 14 plus hours of sleep??  He was not in a good mood this am really.

Now he is banging on the crib rails.  I really just need a week of stability already or I may have a nervous breakdown.  Even his stellar moods seem to have disappeared.

What could be going on with this kid?

Probably like what you said... with all the sleep he's been getting at night and the day before, he could take more A time before the nap.

Well, he didn't go down until 12:30!!! (6 and 1/2 hrs Atime).  Slept for 1 and 1/2 hours (then my FIL slammed our front door by accident ( :P) and he woke crying, did not go back down.

Was in pretty good spirits and I put him in bed at 5 hours a-time (7pm).   That's only 20 minutes later of a bedtime than last night!!!

Woke at 5:20 am.  :'(

What should I have done differently??  My guess in hindsight is have him in bed earlier last night, but when and why when he seemed UT for nap.

I'm ready to give up.

Oh Annie, I am sorry he woke early again. But I still think that things are getting better.... and even when I was trying to correct early morning wake ups, there were still some early morning wake up when things were going well.

OK, so there's hope for me yet!!!!  :D

So I did not get him out of his crib when he woke this am (he was singing mostly) I finally went in and told him to go back to sleep, he tried soooooo hard, poor guy.  It seems like he MAY have dozed for 20-30 minutes until 6:50  :o  and then he was up for the am.   He's actually stellar so far (in spirits).

What to do with nap time today??

I am thinking maybe 11:30ish (not too early, but I don't want to be too late either?)

I'll still do five hours a-time before bed if you think I should.

I'm keeping hope alive in this house!!!  ;D

Tx darling.  :-*

Hey Annie.... well done for sticking to the A times ;)

Yes, autumn (fall)/winter is coming our way so its starting to get cold... although we did have a nice warm day yesterday and I took them to the beach ;D

Anxious to hear what time he will wake up. Remember, even if he wakes as early as he used to, its ok as he still slept well at night and you can stick to the 11.30am nap for a few more days and soon it will be back to 12pm nap
