Yogurt Ideas
« on: April 07, 2008, 23:44:10 pm »
Meghan is not a fan of milk.  She will eat cheese, but really how much cheese can I give this child without starting to have tummy and/or sodium issues.  So, I'd like to get her eating yogurt.  She doesn't seem to like it.  I've tried all different kinds and occasionally she'll eat a few bites, but never a complete serving.  I'm looking for ideas for sneaky yogurt recipes.  Maybe a dip/spread, muffin/pancake, meatball, anything I can give her as a finger food.

Also, this might be a stupid question, but what is yogurt cheese?  Does it have a lot of calcium?

Thanks!

the one thing i can think of is a yogurt/milk shake with banana or strawberry.

Perhaps 1 ripe banana, 1 cup milk, 1/2 cup vanilla yogurt, 1 teaspoon honey if not sweet enough.  And process in blender until there a no chunks left (that'd serve 1 adult and 1 kid)

Yeah, how about a fruit smoothie using yogurt? Must be loads of recipes online :) and also a basic korma/mild curry sauce can be made using yogurt, or something like tzatziki (sp?) - that greek dip with yogurt, garlic and cucumber - good for dipping salad sticks in :)

We make popsicles with blended mango and vanilla yogurt. Quite messy to eat but a big hit - especially if teething.

yogurt cheese is simply yogurt with the whey removed.  You can make it yourself...just put some yogrt in a muslin bag or several layers of cheese cloth and put a weight on it to press the liquid out over night.  Comes out like cream cheese.
