Yeah, I've tried extending naps.  I know what you mean about them sleeping well once past the 40 min mark.

It's so weird b/c Claire doesn't really act Touchy when awake.  She is VERY laid back.  But with eating and sleeping, she seems touchy.  So I'm not sure.

I'm so glad you aren't having night wakings.  Those are killer.

I feel like taking a break from all the thinking and striving.

MathildasMum, I really like the cushion idea!  I was up hunched over the crib from 0345-0645 (after a 30 minute feed at 0230) this a.m. because my LO had gas, and then couldn't settle, and then cried until he was hysterical...Oh my aching back! :(

Hello Mathildasmum,
How have the last few days been?  Have the NWings continued?  What about the daytime naps?  Do you find that she naps better on weekends when you aren't making the school runs?  I realize I don't know your situation but perhaps you might consider trying to find another parent to share school runs with as it seems they fall at your LO's prime nap times (particularly the morning nap).  That way at least there may be a couple days a week that you can work on at least one other daytime sleep, KWIM?   What do you think?  Really sounds like she is just very OT which will lead to difficulty settling and NWings.
If things haven't improved, any more thoughts on making a trip to the docs?
Hope things are slowly getting better for you.  Let us know how you are doing.

Hi everyone

Just wanted to pop along here and update you all and thank you again for your kind words.

We are a week into a new routine and new breakthrough in naps - we are still not all the way there but she is consistently having a long lunchtime nap every day now - 1.5-2.5 hours mostly with no assistance from me!

Its a miracle and a breakthrough and FINALLY I feel like the normal me, mothering my baby and falling in love with her all over again.

The difference in both of us is amazing - mathilda is so much happier when she is awake, not resisting her sleeps, feeding well, sleeping through the night most nights and is generally now a really happy content baby - a far cry from a week or so ago.

I am feeling completely different, havent felt that awful stress and despair for over a week and feel like my old self, it is wonderful!!

Slight anxiety creeps in when I worry it wont last but for now, life is good!

So HAPPY to hear that things are better!! I know what you mean about worrying it won't last. But I always try to think that life IS up and down and we just have to roll with the punches. Also as you get through hard times like you just did you KNOW if you ever reach a road block again there is a way around it! What you just accomplished proves it!
