We took the boys to the pediatrician when they were a few days old. Our ped noticed it; they both had it since they are identical. He gave us the option, but suggested it would probably help with our breastfeeding issues (latching). SO, we agreed, he did it right then, I nursed while I was there, and each had gained a little weight, indicating they had been able to eat  :)  Thank you so much for the link. Many moms struglle with whether or not to have the procedure done. There's not much to it when they are young...simple cut, and very little blood and crying  :'(

First I've read that drinking lots of water will actually decrease your milk production. So stop drinking so much! This is what I did whenever I wanter a higher milk supply. Take oatmeal flakes and cook them in water with pineapple, passion fruit or the fruit of your choice. Add some cinnamon, ground cloves, brown sugar. Cook until flakes are soft. Mix it altogether in a blender and sift it. If its too thick add some water. Let me know how it goes.

As you become more clear about who you really are, you'll be better able to decide what is best for you - the first time around

Just an update...I'm pumping 10-12 oz a day, enough to give them both 5-6 oz of breast milk daily. I wish it were more, but I'm happy that there is some at all!  :)

Thank you for all your supprt, and I'm going to keep it up!

Just wanted to add that my experience with supply has shown me that pumping is best for me. If I don't pump, my supply goes down. I stopped pumping about a month ago and my supply went down almost immediately. After a week, I started pumping again and have just today have gotten back adequate supply to send enough bottles to daycare. So while everyone says that baby drains the breast best, I can safely say that the opposite is true for me. Just now I pumped 5 oz from each breast! I was down to 1 oz per breast when I started pumping again.

Here are the other things I'm doing that seem to have worked:

> Eat like you are pregnant
> Drink lots of water
> 1 beer a night right after pumping (I swear this is working for me!)
> No underwire bras

Good luck!
