Nope. I had rats in this house over Christmas. Finally got rid of them in March I think. With the help of Mr. Rentokil and his poisons.
I grew up on farms and then an old mill. We had a water leat literally running under the Mill and it was all rat heaven. My mum once came into the kitchen to find a rat sitting on the floor and it didn't bloody move when she came in. She actually had to 'shoo' it. AND did you know rats grow up to 28cm long (that's the common brown rat we mostly get in our homes). That's about as long as a magazine. Huge!!

This is the kind of knowledge I'd be happy to live without!

That's horrid. ewwwwwwww. I can't imagine having to shoo a rat!
