Blocked Duct - DIY Fix it!
« on: May 25, 2008, 11:40:25 am »
Today I have been incredibly uncomfortable with a hard and hot left breast. It seemed to be getting worse as the day went on and after I did the bedtime feed tonight (he fed for 20+mins as per normal) he was still hungry and then fed off the other side for 20mins (which he never does)!!!!

Anyway, I noticed when changing my breastpads that I had a small discolouration on my nipple. I came down and did some online research (god love the inetrnet) and found some advice on piercing the 'blister'.

I sterilised a needle and did as instructed and as soon as I did milk started flowing freely from the blister, and as I massaged the hardness it started really spurting from the blister - it was amazing! After about 10mins, the hardness and hotness had gone!

I searched for 'blocked duct' on the internet and found this advice on a breastfeeding website.

Just thought I would post so that it might help someone else.

I wish I had a camera to catch DHs face as the milk went spurting everywhere, it was priceless!!! He even woke up during the night and said to me how incredible it was :-)
