Easy - 5 week old
« on: June 09, 2008, 15:07:56 pm »
Hi

It some time since I was on the site. Lily is now 3. However we have a new addition to the family - Murdo, who is 5 weeks old. He weighs (Friday past) 9lb 11oz, having gained more than 1lb in 2 weeks.

He is on a 3 hour routine in the day time, sometimes we have to wake him, taking 5oz at 7am, 10am, 1pm, 4pm. We are giving him an extra feed at 6pm which is normally only 1oz (is this a cluster feed?) and also give him another 2oz at 8pm just after bath (should we give him more at this time as he would take it). 10.30pm he gets his last feed (dream feed) where he normally takes another 5oz. He wakes anytime between 2 and 3.30 in the morning and only takes 2-3oz and that's him until about 6.15am. We have followed this plan for a more than a week now and there seems to be no improvement with the night wakings.

My question's are, is he getting enough, should I make him last more than the 3 hours through the day and then increase his 5oz bottles, any other tips.

Regards

Jenny

Hi there, with regards to the feeds, looks spot on to me, a DF followed by one night feed is wonderful.  Its up to you if you want to up the 8pm feed, but it does sound like cluster feeding and it seems it is helping him go through with just the dreamfeed and a night feed. If it sint broke dont fix it ;)  I think you've done a great job! Congrats on the new addition x
