Going back to work
« on: June 11, 2008, 01:15:51 am »
I am going back to work soon and I have no idea how many ounces of milk I should leave for each feeding. My daughter is eating about every 3.5-4 hours. Any suggestions. How am I supposed to know hopw many ounces she eats if she is breastfeeding?

First off, {{hugs}}.  I work outside the home, too, and I know it's hard.  How old is your dd?  You might want to try this website as a start:  http://www.kellymom.com/bf/pumping/milkcalc.html.  You can adjust up/down as you see how much she's actually eating.  It's kind of trial-and-error, but she'll let you know as she wants more.  FYI, I also left a few oz of frozen milk at daycare so that it would be available if needed (a bottle liner broke, he was still starving, etc).

Thats a good link, like pp says it will give you an idea. You can put in an extra oz just to make sure.
