Oh Boy...ANOTHER rash today!! Cinnamon??? (pics)

Hi girls...
   I posted just a few days ago when dd broke out in a rash that apparently was from sunscreen. Switched brands, now we're fine.  This morning she had apple & cinnamon oatmeal for b'fast (organic).  She has had it dozens of times before, and loves it.  Today she was happily eating, making a mess, and then I saw that wherever there was oatmeal on her face, it was becoming red and raised.  I quickly washed her face, and those marks remained for about an hour. It was exactly the spots where she has smeared the oatmeal...nowhere else.  I'm learning that cinnamon is a common allergen, but she has had cinnamon before, both in this oatmeal and in muffins that I make her. I guess a lo can just develop a reaction to soemthing that they've had before?  I called the doc, but by the time I was ready to go (wanted to give her a bath and wash any traces off) it was gone.  So, do I stop giving her cinnamon?  And how is it that it can bother her skin so much, but yet she can eat it??
   Looks like I have a very sensitive little girl.  Thanks for any input...

Ds had this reaction to cinnamon as well. We stopped giving it to him and tried it again awhile later (almost a year later, I believe) and he's fine with it now. He too has very sensitive skin. And you're not nuts, by the way, just a mommy...it comes with the territory!

A lot of Lo's can have contact allergies...and for some, depending on the severity, they just ignore it. My dd has a TON of contact allergies....I honestly could not list them all....Before a year, I would stop giving anything that broke her out and stick to tried and true. Now, it's so hit and miss, that as long as it's just contact, and not manifesting it any other way, I let her have it. One day she will eat blueberry yoghurt and not a mark, the next she's got patches whereever it's touched. And it happens to SO many foods. DS had it a bit, but not as bad as DD.

I would double check with your doc about his/her policy just to ease your mind.

in fact, if you look in the pic of her birthday tag, it's not clear, but her right cheek is rosy, that was taken about 2 hours after lunch...where she had had rice/chicken/broccoli (only remember because it was DS's birthday and wanted to make sure with all the hubbub of the party, that they ate a good lunch! lol) and her little skin reacted to SOMETHING....and I remember thinking OH great now she's going to be all blotchy for big bro's b-day pics...(ack, such a vain mommy....)

My dd1 gets that from cinnamon too.  Nothing else, and she's fine eating it in small amounts.

Thanks so much....and yes, day by day, I did notice that red little cheek once you pointed it out!  I tell ya, this whole motherhood thing ain't for sissies!!!!! 
So I guess I'll be skipping the oatmeal for a while, which stinks because she likes it and it's good for her (and easy for me to make on a sleepy morning!)  In the meantime we're going to pay a visit to our holistic doc, food allergy elimination is his specialty. I just worry that if it's bothering her outside that much, it just can't be doing anything good on the inside!   
I'll post waht homeopath has to say about it....and thanks again....

Marking- I am anxious to hear what you find out. 

DS gets a red diaper area when he has cinnamon or any acidic fruits (strawberries, citrus...).  Never seems bothered by it, but it is really red and angry looking!
