Okay how's this for a plan?
« on: June 17, 2008, 21:38:57 pm »
Ella is 16 (nearly 17 months) old.

She is so not liking her cot at the moment, yet will happily go and get in our bed (on her own) for naps and bed (I then transfer her over!).

The reason I allowed this is because she started making herself sick in her cot.  A little mantra cry but would make herself sick every night!  We then let her go to bed in our bed where she puts herself to sleep quite happily, with no problems.

So anyway I try again tonight to get her to bed in her cot - we have bath, story, cuddle etc I put her to bed in her cot.  Again, a little mantra cry (for maybe 2 mins!), and when I go and check on her low and behold she's been sick again!  Then I have to take her out of her cot (she's asleep by this point btw!),  to clean her up and change her sheets!

When it first started I thought she was ill but it turns out she is making herself sick.

Anyway so I'm thinking of just getting her a bed - a little toddler bed and letting her go to bed herself.  What do you think?

She will ask to go to bed (by saying the word and signing it too) and if you ask her if she wants to go to sleep she says "Yes, yes" while nodding and will go get in bed no problems, and fall to sleep independently.

Do you think this will make it easier for her to have her own big girl bed?  I just don't think she likes her cot!  She never liked her travel cot either yet would happily go to sleep in a bed at grandmas etc!

I'm trying to get this little ap problem sorted before little man arrives in September as they will be sharing a room!

Sarah, there is no harm in trying. You could start of by putting her on a mattress on the floor (the cot mattress) and if she's doing well with that, then look at getting a bed ;D
