I live in the UK and didn't have a hard time bf my lo in public. He was born last June. I live in southeast london. I must admit I was quite anxious when I was out and about to bf but mainly because it's not always easy to find a comfortable spot to sit and bf and I also worried about my lo crying uncontrollably and my being stared at (I felt quite conscious about that personally). I made many visits to mcdonalds as there were usually quiet corners to sit. Once I found a good spot, I was more than happy to breastfeed in public generally.

Other than that I didn't have any rude comments or stares from people...not that I noticed anyway.

Also, I may have had it easier than a few in that my LO chose to stop bf when he was approaching 8 months.

I went to the ABM conference yesterday and this proposed legislation was discussed by Patti Rundall, policy director of Baby Milk Action (who was super interesting on the whole issue of artificial baby milks). There are some updates about the 6 months thing here:

It's shocking and pretty disgusting, IMHO.  They need to get with the 21st century and stop living in the dark ages!

I'm so happy to live in Canada.

I am from England but have lived in Bermuda for the past 9 years.  I visit England frequently and always BF in public (I BF my first until 18 Months).  I had no idea that it was legal to discriminate - didn't stop me!  I actually saw quite a few ladies breastfeeding in public which was refreshing to me as I never see any breastfeeding mothers here in Bermuda.
