i dont want to be a bearer of doom but when we stayed away at christmas ds1 was 2 1/2 and still in a cot and and we were forced to do big bed transition, he was woken after a good start and that was it and it took 2 months to sort him, he started nw and ew so if i were you id get a cot of some sort organised even if you buy one there and leave it, it will be worth every penny in my opinion if you have to staart bbb out of his own surroundings it will cause chaos, do it at home. i also think if you let him share a bed it will become habbit and will want it at home!

I had a different experience to yours Rachel. My DS was nearly 2 and we were staying at the inlaws for Christmas. He decided he wanted to sleep in the BBB rather than the cot and he slept great. When we got home we quickly ditched the cot and got a proper bed and we've never looked back. Even now - 6 months later - he never gets out of it - just stays in it and shouts for us. Though he was never a cot climber!

One thing that will help is that they WILL be more knackered. The fresh air, the stimulation, etc. And neither of them are small babies any more, so they might just do fine.

Is it possible to order a cot for DS though? And take home lovies with you, maybe even their own bedclothes pillow, etc...
