YAY a nice new thread :D

I'm up super early! Callie had a dirty bum so I sorted that, put a chicken casserole in the oven to slow cook and have done some banking.  Looking for some inspiration for finger foods for this weeks menu  planner now ;)

Hmmmmm J was up in the night last night which is VERY unusual for him.....he wasnt OT so it defo wasnt that. I gave him raisins for the first time day before yesterday, and again yesterdat......think he may have had tummy ache? He also had a bit of grated cheese yesterday which he's had before but not often...I really should stop giving new things together!  :-\ ::)

Hi there all. I've posted once or twice before. Stan's 7 months now, still isn't really eating anything at all, but it's just for fun right? Since he's not actually eating anything (and because of the tremendous mess), I'm had only been offering food once a day (sometimes twice) but wondering if he needs more opportunity to eat? So been offering twice a day but still nothing's going down. Also, when should I offer food in relation to milk? I'm doing it about an hour later at present - it seems like it's really the only time slot available (not too close to BF but not too tired), but it does seems as though when we go to 3 meals a day we will just spend all day either BF'ing or eating.

Thanks! I so enjoy reading about everything your LOs eat, hope Stan will be joining them soon.  :)

Hi Anna  :)

I wouldnt worry about Stan not eating yet, you're right before 1 food's just for fun! Josh didnt show readiness for weaning until 7 months, so I never really offered until then. Then it took him over 3 weeks to actually eat something  ::) He still doesnt eat a huge amount, but enjoys experimenting  :D

You've got the timing just right....we offer solids about an hour after a milk feed. To start off with, I mainly offered J just one meal a day, sometimes two.

Hi everyone

Not had a chance to post recently (Lewis has been teething and had cold) but I've been popping on quickly and keeping up to date with your lo's exploits. All going well by looks of it :)

We haven't really had anything new except Organix fruit wobbler - jelly basically. Lewis loves it, almost coming off his highchair to get at it!

Anna - Lewis took about a month to get hang of eating too.  Recently he just seems to be eating loads.  In fact I have a question for everyone ;) When do you stop feeding your lo's. I sometimes feel as though L is eating too much (can they??) and worry I'll overfeed or he'll vomit.  How do you ladies gauge it?

Anna, I also know what you mean about bf and eating!  You bf, then some activity, then solids, then almost time for nap and then it all starts again!!  But it's all great fun!

BTW- lots of giggles at the lo's hoovering stuff off their tray that they can't pick up. Lewis hasn't done that - yet!

Sharon,

I let Callie eat as much as she wants for breakfast and lunch but I do limit dinner or give her something lighter.  She does 330 milk feed, 430 solids then 645 milk so I make sure she doesn't stuff herself silly at dinner time.  'Cause she would! ;)

Well this morning I was all tearful about Stan's eating (or lack thereof) (what can I say I'm very tired and everything seems worse only 4.5 hours sleep) but this afternoon we went to my mums for a BBQ and put the highchair on the lawn and he sucked the bejeebers out of a bit of sirloin steak, and a big sweet potato wedge, and two asparaguses, and the broccoli - well I won't say he was exactly enthusiastic about it but it went in his mouth for the first time so I call that progress.

He really enjoyed sitting with us all and chatting and munching away. He was even too busy eating to bother taking off his sunhat! There was lots of food wedged between him and the highchair, lots in his neck crease, lots up his sleeves, between his toes, in his hair... but I think some went down...

That is wonderful that Stan enjoyed himself!  Food can get in the strangest of places can't they :)

I need some more food ideas.  James gets a lot of veggies and fruits and he loves toast and the whole wheat bagels I give him.  What else can I try?  We are getting in a food rut  :(

Natalie, I try and plan out the weeks meals so that I don't get stuck for ideas.  Some things we do:

Toasties/grilled sandwiches with tuna, cheese, tomato.  Either use brown bread or pittas

Toast, bagels, pittas, muffins spread with humous, philly, squashed banana, fruit puree, mild 'baby' curry, chicken shredded through avacado

Pasta - homemade cheese or tomato sauce, bolognaise sauce, creamy tomato sauce, roasted veg.

Roasted veggies are a fav. Baby corn, green beans, roast potatoes

Patties - all sorts of veg mashed in with potatoes and formed into little burgers then fried/grilled.  We add in cheese, fish

Homemade fish fingers - fish in egg then breadcrumbs

Eggs - scrambled, boiled, omlette

Phew ... that any help!?

Hey guys...just wondered if any of you could say how much food was being consumed by 10 months old? Was it still more out than in?

Nicola - thanks for hte food list LOL, some good ideas there.

We offer Hugh - fruit, steamed veggies, shredded chicken, sausages chopped little, any meat we eat chopped little actually, his dinners don't very from what we have at all. Pasta bolognaise, mum mums, arrowroots, salad, cheese, sandwhiches, etc etc - his diet is same as Zara's pretty much.

Except, on advice of paed, we now have to go back to no dairy.  He is going to be so mad when she gets to eat things I won't let him have...he does the plate comparison at every single meal/snack now.....
