could this be an allergy?
« on: July 08, 2008, 12:14:40 pm »
Ellie has come out in a rash all over her body. Legs, hands feet, palms tummy etc. I don't know what it is really but she had strawberry's today. I gave it to her yesterday too and she was fine. There is no other issue but the rash. But that's all I can think of.

Hi Faye

My mum has a strawberry allergy and was covered from head to toe in little dots when it happened - she developed it after years of eating them too!

Nate had an unexplainable rash a couple of weeks ago too, looked like it was going to be Chicken Pox but it faded over the following days.  Weird!

Were they raised at all Kelly?

With Ellie's they have just appeared and are everywhere. They look like lots of little dots and are a sort of brownish, red colour rather than being red. And they aren't raised. Is that what it sounds like?

Has she been ill in the last week?  Levi was really ill last week with a virus and always comes out in a post viral rash from head to toe?

I've also heard that hand, foot and mouth is going around again and that is like chicken pox but the spots tend to be inbetween toes and around the mouth etc

She hasn't been ill Sal, but she hasn't been herself. I mean she has cried and everything! But she is more tired than normal too. She got up about 12 after a nap and was exhausted at 2 and went right down for a nap.

Maybe it's not an allergy. If this needs to go to health then please do move it.

They weren't raised but they weren't little and everywhere either.  Ellie's sounds like either an allergy or a viral rash to me too but that's only in my experience.  Could you get her to the doctor for a once over?  I don't know if there's anything they could give her.  Zander had Benadryl Allergy for a rash once (we think pineapple!) but I've just checked the box and it's for over 2 year olds.

yup and piriton is for 1yr and over. I might take her to a pharmacy to see what they think then take her to a Dr's if they think she needs too. I just don't want to go for 'just a heat rash' yk. It does seem different than an allergy then.

Thanks Kelly :-*

How is she Faye?  Did you take her to see the pharmacist?

I did and they said take her to the Dr. But she seems so much better, rash is still there but in herself she is better. So I'm just going to see how it goes. Thanks Kelly :-*

Hi Kelly:

How are things going now?  Did the rash go away.  My first thought would have been allergy also.  Strawberries is a very common allergen.

Does she still have the rash?  Could you take a pic by chance and post it?

Poor thing.  Please keep us posted.  Wendy
