Hunger strike...HELP!
« on: July 11, 2008, 02:22:27 am »
I swear I'm going crazy :o LOL! As soon as Mason turned 5mos he won't eat. I have to struggle to get him to finish his bottle.

He is on a 4hr routine starting at 7am. He was eating 7-8oz at each feed and still does most of the time but it takes FOREVER. He wants to play and fool around and when I try to pop the bottle into his mouth he sticks his tongue out so I can't get it in!

If he had his way he'd be a big time snacker and eat every hour. Anyone have any tips? He's driving me crazy and I don't want him to wake up in the night hungry!

I got so frustrated that now my husband is trying to feed him. What a monkey ::)

His routine is

7am - eat
730 - activity
9am - nap. Sometimes this is his best nap but other times he wakes up several times during the nap and I have shh/pat him back to sleep.
11am - eat
1130 - activity
1pm - nap...but he wakes up lots during this nap and I have to go in and shhh/pat him back to sleep a few times
3pm - eat
330 - activity
somewhere bet 430-530 he naps. If his two earlier naps were good he'll nap for less than an hour if they weren't good (lots of waking in the middle)  he may nap for up to an hour and a half
7pm - eat
730 - massage, bath, books, bed.
10pm - dream feed

Most feeds he was taking in 7-8oz. Now it takes much longer to get that into him and he's pushing his tongue out so we can't get the nipple in...lol. We are using a size 2 nipple (size 2 is for 3-6mos) and I was hoping to go to a size 3 soon. We are also just starting solids...just a tsp or so of oat cereal in the morning at about 8-815am.

Thanks!

Jen

Just an idea but is he starting to teeth Dra doesn't eat well when her mouth hurts her and wants to snack alot....Also with the tongue thing I think they are learning how it works and finding new things so its a game for them for a bit....

Think she had a bit of a strike around that age it lasted for a few

She finally started eating good after about a week or two....Its kinda of a guessing game now some days she eats like a pig others she just kinda nibbles..I'm sure he will calm down soon, and settle into eating well it just takes a few ......
