Should I worry that our lo might become iron deficient?
« on: July 13, 2008, 17:48:00 pm »
Hello~

I've just been recently really worrying that our 8 month old DS may become iron deficient.....there's so many opinions on the matter out there, and I just have no idea what to beleive anymore.  Our lo is EBF, and I don't give him much iron fortified cereal, as it seems to constipate him; so I just try my best to give him foods high in iron (prunes, etc) but he really doesn't eat much, and I worry that this will affect him?  Anyone have any thoughts on the matter??

Thanks,

Andrea

Hiya, now I know NOTHING about breastfeeding, but if YOU eat more iron rich foods, will that pass into the Breastmilk? Just wondering as I know that breastmilk has iron reserves until 6 months (so my mw said ??? ) just thinking if you eat the foods, she should get the iron from your breastmilk? Just a thought?
