Well, I tried A times today and since he was up at 6:20, I aimed for 11:35 but he was out at 11:30 and slept until................1:30! Fell asleep for the night at exactly 7pm so all in all, a great day. Fingers crossed I can replicate this tomorrow!

YAY!!!!  A good day helps make it through whatever lies ahead.  I found we had a lot of regression during the switch...but looks like today went great, so here's to hoping for more!!

Thanks so much everyone for your support. Makes me feel like I can get through this. Last night was great. Asleep at 7pm short cry out at 4:30am then I had to wake him at 6:30 am! I am fully expecting a short nap today due to a good night, nap then night again, but STTN myself makes it so much easier to manage. I'll keep everyone posted.

Hi I too am going to lurk as im at my wits end!!

My ds is sooo inconsistent even my mum says she has never known anything like it  ::)

Ds also started nursery this week and today they really cheesed me off as they let him have a nap at 9.15am (he woke 6am this morn) until 11.15ish, of course he wouldnt or couldnt have a catnap and wouldnt go sleep til after 7.30 although i put him bed 7pm.

I am not looking forward to tomorrow am as he will poss EW and god knows what NW we may get tonight  :( Worst thing is he is back in nursery tomorrow 8am til 4pm, just hoping he wont repeat today.

Good luck all other mums going through this and Jcsmom well done so far  ;D

HI lewismummy. I have read many of your posts and my DS and yours are sleep twins (along with lesorl, RACHPEM and a few others!). Very easily OT and inconsistent right?

I would insist that he take one nap at the nursery so you can avoid such a long stretch before bed. And 7pm is waaaay too late after waking at 11:15am. In my limited experience with this disaster called the 2-1 switch, an early bedtime for us has been the key to my success the last 2 weeks. I was soooo fearful of an early bedtime as he already goes down as early as 6:30pm but I have tried 6pm or earlier a few times only to have amazing success. I was shocked and so skeptical but it works for us better than the catnap. If you decide to do it, it has to be ultra early like 6pm or before to work. My DS if has an OT nap and I put him to bed early at 6:30 he wakes at 5:30 with still not enough sleep. It's not the early bedtime that causes the 5:30 waking, it's the OT. He would wake at 5:30 if OT and a 7, 7:30 bedtime. KWIM? But 6pm, works the opposite, wakes at 6am or later after an OT/short nap. Go figure. Can't hurt to try!

Today went like this
6:30 am wake no NWs 11.5 hours! Yippppeee
11:38-1:29 nap! Almost 2 hours
7pm bedtime. I am so excited I could cry *anti-jinx*
But now I am fearful of a super early EW tomorrow due to soooo much sleep in the last 3 days. I will fall off my chair if he sleeps until 6am.

I have posted a lot lol its like everytime we get sorted it gets blown out the water with something new!!

I am going to have a word with nursery about the nap thing as its not good for us to have such an early nap. I have tried in the past to put him bed v early in this situation but he wont have it  ::)

I think I will do what you have done and monitor him for a week then get the best 'routine' for us and make him and nursery stick to it. He is only in nursery 2x a week which is good so maybe we can get him sorted v soon as I too am sooo frustrated and just want a happy little man not an OT/NW/EW monster  ;D

Will keep watching your post for ideas and to see if you can crack it for the rest of us lol

It's a miracle. No NWs and slept from 7-6:20 am! I can't believe it. This is the most he has slept in months and me too.
lewismummy, GL with the nursery. I hope that you can get to where we are soon too. I won't lie, we've been at this since 12 months and it is now just working. Too bad early bedtimes don't work for you as I am convinced this is why we are where we are now. I'll try my best to keep up the good work! (((HUGS)))
