Turning two cluster feeds into one (before 8 weeks) help
« on: August 05, 2008, 23:59:17 pm »
Hello!

For some reason, I am a bit confused by what is said as "turning the two cluster feeds into one, either 530 or 6:00 by 8 weeks.  My son is 6 weeks on thursday, and I am trying to figure out when/how to change this.  If your schedule looks like this, give or take 30 mins: (feeding)

7am
10am
1pm
4pm

Then, when do you feed again?  6?  And if we do a bath around 7, I usually give him a bottle after before bed (bed is usually between 7:30-8).  Do you not feed again after the bath?  Usually I would do 4, 6 and then again at 7:30ish/8.

I don't know why this is throwing me off!  I do have another child at home and I can't remember what I did!  Please move if this should be in EASY, too.  I thought perhaps it was more a feeding question.

thanks!!

Personally if the two cluster feeds are working for you I would stick to it.  A lot of mums do two clusterfeeds until their lo's are a lot older as it works for them to help tank their lo up.

Thanks... I am just confused as it seems he is clustering well, takes a DF, and is waking up earlier and earlier (I think growth spurt).  I feel like he is getting SO much food, bf & bottle, I don't see how he wakes up so soon.

It could very well be a growth spurt.  Sorry for the delay in replying, I was not on line much last week.

How are things going now?
