Cup vs bottle for EBM/Formula
« on: August 07, 2008, 09:06:21 am »
Hi,

I've exclusively bf my DD for the past 5 mths.  Have tried to introduce a bottle of ebm but she doesn't want to know.  The HV said that we should put the ebm straight into a cup instead of a bottle.  Has anyone done this and/or can you recommend a cup?  She currently takes some water from an Avent cup but not sure that this is suitable for either ebm or formula.

Also, if I choose to introduce formula as oppose to expressing, which would be best for a baby going from breastmilk to formula or are they much the same?  I was also wondering whether at 6 mths, I should use the follow on milk as opposed to formula if I dont express?

Look forward to any replies.

Mel

If your lo is already drinking out of the Avent cup, you can always try this cup and see how your lo goes.

With regards to introducing formula, it is completely up to you, if you read the back of the formula tins, all formulas are made up of the same ingredients.

I agree with trying the cup first because at least you are cutting out a weaning process ,LO's do get attched to bottles
