anya moved to one nap when she was about 13 months. it was not a big deal, thankfully. she hated her afternoon nap, so i just sort of delayed her morning nap till it reached 11:30am, then kept it there for a couple of months, then moved it to 12:30 as we needed a later night sleep time , and it stands at 12:30 now :)

12 & 13 months for James & Isaac, respectively.  They each had many 2-nap weekend days after the transition started, & I think they would've kept 2 naps every day longer if they hadn't been in daycare.

My lo went ot 1 nap at 9 months - he'd started NWs and EWs, so we cut out his morning nap. and hey presto, problems solved. Very occasionally he will have two naps - if he's had a bad night teething, he'll have a power nap mid morning say 30mins, then a short afternoon nap. My lo is spirited, and doesn't need much sleep, survives well on a 1.5 hour nap (sometimes less), and then 10.5 hours a night.

I have no idea how old my dd was as sleep was never an issue with her and I wasn't really paying attention.  I'd say about 12 months though but could have been a bit before or after.  I would actually love my ds to go to one nap sooner rather than later as it would give us more flexibility in the mornings but seeing as he can hardly handle more than 3 hours A time, it could be a while yet!!

11 months  ::)

The switch started about 9.5 months, things were haywire for a few weeks, then settled down...longer AM nap, short pm nap...then his A time literally jumped 30-60mins overnight, so now we're on 1 nap, 5 hours after wakeup for approx 2 hours, and an early bedtime  :P

My princess was 13 months. We went cold turkey as she was having NW and EW. It went pretty well :-)

ds is just over 9 mos, and seems to be wanting to stay up 4-4.5 hours so I think we're going to start the switch now and just make bedtime a little earlier.  he's doing it all on his own, so I guess we'll see how it goes!

10 mo's old. that was 2wks ago. Since then she's getting 2-2.5hrs MORE sleep in a 24hr period than she was on 2 naps!
she sleeps about 1.5-2.25hrs nap and 12.5-13.5 hrs night sleep. it works out to 14.5hrs a day....but that' sWAY better than what she was getting! she was only getting about 12.5hrs a day with 2 naps! It's been a surprisingly fabulous switch for us:)

Ladies you have given me hope! Just wanted to ask a question. We've been struggling with EWs for seems like months now. I won't go into detail now, but have started wondering if 1 nap could be the solution. He can do 4-5 hrs A time in the am without being a wreck, (from awake time of 5.30 til 1st nap at 10.15/10.30) so started thinking..........but 1 question......

He's not crawling yet. So if we started thinking about 1 nap, are his A times going to shrink when he starts moving around alot more and gets more tired, should we hamg on til he gets moving and then see?

I'll do anything for an end to EWs :P :P :P :P

You would have to just see how he goes tbh.  My DS switched before he started crawling, and crawling made little difference to him.  In fact, right now, at 13mo, if he doesn't get more tired when he starts walking (he is very close) then we will have to limit the nap to 1.5 max!

We transitioned to 1 nap quite early, and when DD started crawling, it did not make much difference to her A times.

I would say that you can give it a try and see how your lo gets on.

Ok so how do we do it? Is there a sticky anywhere? The main problem I can foresee is that atm (like this morning) he only sleeps between 45-60 mins for 1st nap. So should I go ahead and try and stretch that A time hoping he'll sleep longer? Sorry I'm digressing from the theme of this thread, mayne I should jump on the 2 to 1 switch post?
