Fitting in a fifth feed
« on: August 23, 2008, 08:07:52 am »
Hiya!  :) Was just wondering where to fit in a fifth bottle when we drop DD's afternoon catnap (she's 7.5mths old). At the moment she has 1 feed when she wakes up, 1 after morning nap, 1 after mid afternoon nap, 1 after catnap and 1 at bedtime. She's not a great food eater yet, so she definately needs to get her calories from her milk. She won't drink a bigger amount, so I can't even out the extra bottle in her other 4 feeds IYKWIM. Would you recommend adding milk during her A times or not? I don't want to mess too much with her E times and A times cos she might start snacking knowing another bottle will come later in the A time. She drinks approx 120mls, 200mls, 180mls, 180mls, and 240mls at the moment depending on the day and how she feels!  ::)
Thanks
Andi

At 7 months you don't need a 5th feed
By 5-6 months we only had 4 feeds in 24 hours...1 every 4 hours during the 12 hour day.

I bet in a few days if you spaced out her feeds and only offered 4 bottles she would actually start to take more at each feed.
Right now she doesn't because she knows she being fed closer together so she has no need to take more at each feed, iykwim.

My lo never drank a lot
She was always about 10oz less a day than everyone else lo's.

I am so in love with my husband and adore my precious Grace

Thanks Grace's Mom! I'm sure she will take more if I do just space out the feeds as she drinks a large amount before bed, so I know it will fit in her!! I'll try doing that now as yesterday she didn't have her catnap so we have basically moved onto the 4hr easy very easily over the last couple of days. It might also help her take more than a few mouthfuls of food if she is going longer without a bottle. Thanks for that :)
