« on: August 24, 2008, 20:32:41 pm »
Hi!!
DD's 2nd birthday is coming up very soon and I need some ideas for presents... Which toy/toys are your 2 year old's favourite and what was the best thing they got for their 2nd birthday?

My DS's birthday is also coming up. WE are planning on getting him a tricycle. Whenever he sees a picture of one, he tries to climb on it. ::)
He also loves puzzles right now.

Hi! Our girls are getting old hey?!

Charlie's fav toy(s) right now are definitely babies. She'll push a dolly in a stroller for hours. For her b-day we got her some dress up clothes, a dolly highchair, and some everyday boring stuff like pj's and play clothes.

MIL recently introduced barbies too her....and she actually liked putting barbie to bed....

Yep, they are! Lois loves dolls too! A dolly stroller me thinks...
She's got a tricycle and loves that too. Can't pedal yet though, just pushes herself along. A new puzzle would be good too :)
We've got to tell grandparents what she wants too, so more ideas welcome ;D

I'm not sure Lois would be into the other things Sam loves............planes, trains, cars, trucks, buses   ;)

Maybe she would actually Amy... she's been really interested by those things lately and will point and get all excited. She hasn't got any toy cars or anything (only been given "girls' toys" by friends and family) so maybe it would be good to get her some. Balance is key right?

My DD plays with her dolls ALOT.  She loves to play with them in their strollers.  The high chair is a huge hit, and she loves to feed her dolls.  She doesn't use the cot as much, instead they sleep anywhere in the house that she puts their blankets.  If you can find any dolls that are bath suitable, that is really fun for them!

And she loves backpacks, and handbags.

Anything related to sand and water play are popular here.

My DS had his 1st birthday yesterday, and he got some great toys that he will grow into - Little People Race track that makes the cars crash, and Playschool race track with 3 tracks and you push a button and three cars go racing down the tracks - 2 yr old DD is LOVING these right now! I think they are for 18mo plus, but we had 1-5 yr olds here for the party yesterday, and they all loved them.

Wooden block are huge in this house also. Oh, and so is a tea set. Duplo isn't bad either. And cleaning toys are great, brooms, mops etc.

Depending on your budget, nothing has been better for our kids than our swing set, followed closely by our trampoline.

Thanks for all those great ideas Rina! DD loves handbags and backpacks too. Maybe her own handbag and purse? And a bath dolly would be a hit if I can find one as she always wants to take her doll but it's not suitable for water. We've not bought her any toys for ages, so she needs a few new things. Is getting so bored with everything here and now only wants to watch tv all the time :-\
Our garden is virtually non existent in this place so no room for swings and trampoline... would love that otherwise.
Was wondering about getting a play vacuum cleaner so she can hoover when I do. Anybody got one and do they like it?

Happy belated birthday to Hugh!

Zara does vac when I do, but tends not to use it at other times.  When playing on her own, she prefers to sweep - in fact, she often sweeps up her sand LOL, but before the sandpit, did the same with the garden mulch. She also uses the broom as a "horse"

Hey Vicku,

We have something called a Shark, its a cordless cleaner and very light. Works pretty decent for quick everyday cleaning once DS is off his high chair, and DS loves carrying it around and using it. Soon I might even think of sending him out to the neighbourhood for his cleaning services!

It was snot the most expensive thing, and w bought it in a shop but I know the teleshopping network sells similar stuff.

Hi Vicku, we will be following quickly behind with the 2nd birthday so great thread  ;)

Leorahs' favourite toys now are Postman Pat ones she has him and Jess in his van, Ted Glenn and his work truck, PC Selby and his police car and Ajay and his train, I know Lois is also a fan  ;) Other than that Leorah is really into drawing with crayons, pens, chalk etc so I was planning on asking for craft ideas on another thread so I can request stuff for her birthday.

I know you said your garden is almost non existant but do you have room for a sand and water table? Martin made Leorah one and she LOVES it!

Are your relatives in the UK asking what Lois wants? If so the ELC website is really good, I have picked things out for Leorah like a tub of coloured cotton reels that can be threaded, sorted and stacked etc, a tea set and a magnetic play centre with a chalk board and magnetic numbers and letters that will probably be good for car trips. Other than that Leorah loves to dress up with hats, scarves and bags etc so has a dressing up box in the corner of the front room!

MY son is into Thomas the train, so for his birthday we made a Thomas theme and he had lots of Thomas stuff, books, toys, placemat and bedding. He was so happy.

this little girl I care for is all into babies (dolls), anything to do with them. If you don't have any dolls their are some really nice ones coming with extra clothes and accessoires. They (my son imitates her too) love to rock and sing songs to them and pretend to be a mommy/daddy. They also love playing pretend and the little kitchennette is really fun and keeps them entertained for a long time.

Marty
My big boy is such a wonderful brother to his new sister.
I am truly blessed.
