« on: August 26, 2008, 07:47:14 am »
We are going on a 12 hour road trip to Scotland in about a month and I am not looking forward to the journey! My boy will be just about 8 months - does anyone have any tips to help me and my boy through this?!!!!

hiya, we just did a 15 hour car trip with a 4 month old and a 3 1/2 year old. It went really well, because we travelled overnight!

DS slept until 3 am and cried for a feed, so we had a break then.  DD woke sometimes when we stopped to fuel up or rest, but we kept going and she back asleep again.  DH and I just kept swapping driving.

good luck!

Thanks for that - good idea.  How long can babies stay in their car seat for?

Hi, yeah I don't know, I was a bit paranoid about a night in the car seat. He got up at 3am for a feed and we stretched our legs etc a couple of times in the morning though.
I kept the car cool, checked his head was leaning back and checked him often.  As it was constant driving, we didn't need to stop and start so his head didn't move around much.
He resettled quite well when woken which was good.

But I figured it was a lot better than bf feeding every 3 hours in the day and entertaining a 3 year old LOL.
