I have a theory about ds trouble napping...
« on: August 28, 2008, 12:39:46 pm »
Ok, I know I've been posting alot about the same issue:  DS's trouble napping lately.  It is horribly hit and miss and he's OT, although its a little better than it was.  I've tried all kinds of things.  It could be a combo of stuff thats giving him trouble, but DH and I got to talking last night.

Matthew started speech therapy a few weeks ago and his language is really coming along.  It seems like he says 1-2 new words a day and is learning different ways to use the words he's got.  Could it be that the trouble he's having to sleep is developmental?  He just can't seem to settle down during the day to nap, no matter the timing, etc.

Just a thought that I wanted to bounce off of all of you.

Thanks...once again!
Cindy

I think it could be! Leorah is starting to build her vocab up too and she is talking in her sleep! Recently we had trouble with her being able to settle for her nap and fixed it with a regular wake up time and extended her A time to 5½ hours from about 4hrs45, I'm not sure what troubles you've been having so maybe you have tried this already.

While I'm thrilled that he is doing so well with language - what a pain this nap stuff is!  Its been about 2 weeks, so I figure in the next week or two it should settle down, that's usually his timing with this stuff.

Thats about the time he'll be starting Occupational Therapy!   ::)  Oh dear!  I might as well laugh about it.

Well, I was just up in his room, I thought I'd lay down with him to see if I could get him to sleep (it didn't work).  He would get calm and relaxed and his eyes would be heavy, then he'd start jabbering and his arms and legs would start moving like crazy.

These naps are really screwing stuff up!  My normally great night sleeper is having EWs and NWs.
