New to this, trouble w/ naps, too short 4mth old
« on: September 11, 2008, 20:10:05 pm »
I bought BW the other day to needing help with he too short of a nap. Never put on a strict schedule til now but did eat every 2 1/2 - 3hrs. Want to follow the EASY plan but I am afraid I have done some acc parenting as read in the book. Naps in swing, car seat or me, he would sleep 2-3 hrs that way. I would BF to sleep. Does have reflux and has always hated sleeping on his back. Does ok at night will usually sleep from 8-5:30( would like for him to sleep alittle longer in the morns), avg wakes up 2 times a night. Always had trouble sleeping, slept in PNP til 10wks then put in crib. Was 11lb 3 oz when born so has always been a hungry eater an introduced orange veggies last wk. I think he is a spirited child. Since reading the book I can get him to go down w/in 10-15 min, but he only sleeps for 30-45 min, when he wake I try the PU/PD an I think it makes him worse(more awake/fighting me). I know he's still tired because he wakes up crying/fussy. What do i do till it's time for E??? I am following Tracys guideline for days 1-3. And when it's time for E he wants to sleep at the breast :-\ . Any suggestions?

welcome to BW!

how old is he?

if he does 30 min naps this means OT and you should try ot resettle with pat shh and see if you can get him back to sleep.  if not get him up do a short A time and try for another nap before ti's time for the next feed.  if you keep him up long after a short nap it will make the short naps and OT worse.

right, 4 mo.  so you are following the 4 hour EASY?  you should be aiming for a 12 hour day and 12 hour night so if he an early riser you should be putting him to bed much earlier than 8 pm.

can you post what a typical day looks like incl sleep and awake times.
