won't stay asleep
« on: September 15, 2008, 15:19:37 pm »
My baby is four months old and I have her on the 4 hour easy routine.  She goes down for her naps really well.  However, she won't stay asleep.  She will wake up after an hour in the morning and an half hour in the afternoon.  I then go in and could put her back to sleep, but she won't get into a deep enough sleep so that I can leave the room again.  Any suggestions on how can she stay down longer?

This is what our day usually looks like
E/A-7-8:55
S-9 wakes after an hour but am able to get her back to sleep in a couple of minutes but am unable to leave room again
E/A-11-12:40
S-1 only stays asleep for an half hour then I need to go in
E/A 3-4:55
S-5-5:35
A-5:35-7:30  We bathe, massage her before her feed because her feed helps to wind her down
E/S-7:30 and she usually wakes up once a night with gas and I nurse her to sleep because she won't settle down after gas

hi and welcome to BW!

what time does she wake up from the morning nap?  does she sleep all the way to 11 with your help?  if she is doing a shorter nap and waking up early, like at 10:30 or so then you have to shorten the following A time.  you are probably getting a 30 min nap for the second one (30 min = OT) because you are keeping her up too long.  count A time from the time she wakes up and put her down earlier than usual if the nap is shorter. so if she wakes early at 10:30 (instead of 11) she should only do say 1 hour 40 min A time(instead of 2) and should be going down for nap 2 at 12:10 instead of at 1.
