WHITE NOISE 45 MINUTE NAPS!!
« on: September 16, 2008, 09:10:09 am »
Hi
I am new to this and my little boy is 12 weeks.  I too like many of you have suffered with him only taking 45 minute naps.  I wanted to share a trick that I have used with the hope it may help some of you.  I read that white noise can help a baby sleep.  I recently made a "rain noise" cd, when my boy wakes after 45minutes in the morning and starts to cry I put it on loud enough for him to hear, he then stops crying and goes back to sleep!!

It is fool proof and doesn't always work.  I find that sshh pat doesn't work very well for my because the patting stimulates him more and me being next to him is a distraction!  This way it's enough for him to go quiet and settle himself.  However he is very good at night so this probably helps?!

If you have any other tips I'd appreciate them it's so frustrating not being able to get anything done!!

I actually bought a CD with the sound of a dishwasher on it for my LO. It cost me $7 but it was well worth the investment. I don't know what it is about the sound of dishwasher's that my baby likes but I noticed it a few times while I was running mine that she would nap longer.

So, yeah, the crazy things moms do!

we used a rain noise machine too and it worked great!  i'd put it on at the beginning of the nap and if she woke up part way through it would help her go back down.
