Long nap, then up for 2 hours at night?
« on: September 19, 2008, 12:24:17 pm »
Can anybody help identify the problem here?

My 20 mo old, typically a short napper (35-40 mins until about 18 months old), napped for 2 hours and 40 mins yesterday.  Unheard of for her- she hasn't done that since she was about 5 weeks old.

But then she was up in the middle of the night for 2 hours!  Did she nap too much?  Was it teeth?  I didn't give her meds until 30 mins after she woke, so maybe that was it?  If I don't give them to her immediately she's up for awhile.

I know it was only 1 night, but it seems to occur at least 1x a week.  Still transitioning to 1 nap?

I never let Lucie sleep for longer than 2 hours. She just did the 2-1 nap change for two weeks now and she went from just 1 hour sleep all day time to 1.45 to 2h. Night time is ok. except that now she has a cold.
Maybe her nap was too long. And when she woke up she did it properly and got confused? not sure really about the meds.
Check how can you help her to do the 2-1 switch. There are loads of help in Sleeping for Toddlers Topics
good luck

I'd say it was long nap the caused it Leslie, Lily can only do 1.45max before it shortens her night.  Plus you could be right on the teeth front when Lily teething if I don't give meds the second I go in we get a long nw, go figure!
