Am I doing the right thing?
« on: September 30, 2008, 18:37:21 pm »
Hello!!  DD is just over 2 months now and has been sleeping pretty well for us for the past few weeks.  I have a question about her naps though...

She is on a rough 3.5 hour Easy at the moment.

Many times throughout her nap, she will wake up and start crying, not hysterical, just crying...I will go back in and give her the paci and pat her for less than 1 minute and she will go right back to sleep.  The thing is, there is no consistent time that this will happen, like at 45 minutes.  Sometimes it is within 15 minutes of her falling asleep, she will wake and fuss, sometimes 45 minutes, sometimes an hour.  I try not to rush in, but if I don't, she becomes fully awake and then the nap is lost.

Am I doing the right thing by going in and patting to extend the nap?  Or am I causing future problems?  We completely rocked DS1 to sleep for 9 months, so this is new to me.  I don't really mind doing this as it takes her no time at all to fall asleep.  Just once in a while I have to go in and out multiple times....

Any thoughts?
Judy

Hi Deborah,

That is what I was thinking, but sometimes when I go check on her, she is fast asleep and the Paci is out?!?!?

??? sorry Im not much help. I would think you have the timing right though since she is going back to sleep easily. maybe she has a hard time transitioning btwn the 20 and 40 min mark without the paci/sucking?
