There is no nutritional value in breastmilk after 1 year.
« on: October 09, 2008, 15:42:56 pm »
So says Dan's consultant who is a man and has no children. But I can carry on feeding him for comfort!  ;) ::)
He says there is no need for him to be bf at this age and asked me how long I was planning on feeding him!!

*sits back and waits for sparks to fly!*

I'm so bloody furious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I can't even begin to express my complete disgrace at the fact that pr!cks like this are given jobs in our NHS!!! Unbelievable - shaking head!

EVERY breastfeeding expert out there highly recommends feeding until at least 2 years and the physical benefits to both mother and child past the one year mark are heavily documented - what a complete w@nker.  Apologies if any offence has been caused by my language - I'm just completely outraged and don't know quite how to express how much!

Shocking, completely shocking...

What was Dans reply????????

LOL!

I'm dumbfounded. Eh? What? Errrrrmmmmm? Excuse me??????????????? Do you think we can petition him to go for some re-training?

ETA should we give him the benefit of the doubt and say that he actually meant to phrase it that after a year BM isn't absolutely nutritionally essential, and could be replaced with cow's milk... or do we just lynch him now?

Dan knows which side his booby's buttered! LOL. I tell you if that man knew how many times I bf Dan in a 24 hour period he'd have a fit!

Lisi's mum, he and I have had this conversation several times. It goes in one ear and out the other.

Do you have something against boobs?

LOL.  Yeah, Are you a hetrophobe Mr Consultant?  Had a run in with a scary porn film, or perhaps you have a nipple aversion?  Aw, you weren't breast fed were you sweetie, poor baby...

Lynch him already!!!!  I've got my pitch fork and torch - who's joining me?

But would he think that there was nutritional value in the milk and milk products from another species? Sigh

My boobs didn't seem to come with these built in calendars that many seem to. I can't see any barcodes or sell-by dates when I lift them up to take a peek underneath.

The stuff is fat in suspension, vitamins, minerals, proteins, antibodies, antivirals, white blood cells - when does this go out of fashion?

And of course they've recently discovered stem cells!

LMAO at sell by dates!!!  I thought I saw a barcode on mine but then realised it was just a succession of stretch marks :P

LOL
Yes yes stem cells. Who knows what long term effect that could be having?

What I also don't get is that there is a bunch of constituents in breastmilk that we haven't even identified. There is literally stuff we haven't learnt yet about breastmilk and breastfeeding. So how can someone refute something has value when we literally don't know everything that is in it.

At least it wasn't your dh saying it.  ::)  It had been a long time since I had given him what-for that fast.  (Loudly and in no uncertain terms and with things like *facts* to back me up.  Sigh.)
