I demand fed both my boys.  I don't follow the timeline of EASY to the hour.
With both my boys their version of EASY was that when they woke, they fed, they "played" they slept and the 'Y' was their nap time.
I find the routine of EASY was the key for our house, not so much the timing that Tracy talks about in her books.

same here!  In fact EASY actually works really well with feeding on demand - the idea with EASY is to watch for cues and feed when hungry.  Feeding on demand is also about feeding when hungry.  When Abby was really little, she ate anywhere from 2-3 hrs, but I kept to the EASY flow of the day, even if it wasn't an exact 3 hr EASY.

I think often people who feed on demand are feeding on all demands, not just hunger cues. Like pps said I find BW works really well with demand feeding - Tracy says herself to follow your baby, not the clock, and to always feed a hungry baby.

The trick is to feed for hunger, rather as a fix all.

I did the same with both my LO's.  my dd2 i fed on demand...and when i started EASY when she was 6 weeks old i continuid to feed on demand. EASY is there to teach us the cues our LO's give us so you dont end up reading the cues wrong and feeding when in fact LO needs a nap. Does that make any sense?  :-*

I guess it depends on your definition of feeding on demand.  I feed my baby when he's hungry which these days is approximately every 4 hours.  I do not feed him according to the clock but I know to look for his hunger cues anywhere between 3.5-4.5 hours and will feed him accordingly - as I said, average he goes between feeds is every 4 hours.  Before he started to feed every 4 hours, I found myself feeding very regularly and he was snacking and would never take a good feed as he still had milk in his tummy from an earlier feed.  Although I have followed his cues, I have tried to gradually extend him to 4 hrs between feeds as that way he takes a good feed and will last longer in the day and night too.
I guess if you are co-sleeping then feeding on demand is probably easier as you can just roll over them and feed without really waking (I don't co-sleep) but my thinking on feeding on demand if they are snacking all day long would probably lead to many more night wakings as they never have a full tummy.
Whatever works for you really I guess but yes, I think you can make it work with EASY if you follow a rough pattern.
