Lovey

Hi

I am thinking it is high time that my 14 month old get attached to a lovey, but he is fighting the idea.  I have tried holding his blanket whenever I give him a bottle or when we have a cuddle before naps.  He usually pushes it away or ignores it all together.  I have tried different blankets and soft toys but to no avail.  So what else can I do to encourage bonding with a lovey.  It would be nice if he had something to cuddle with when he wakes in the night or during nap.

DS's lovey is a stuffed horse.  We put out a few stuffed toys and let him pick one to that he wanted to hold during story time.  Then it progressed to him holding it during nursings and now he falls to sleep holding it.  It took some time reminding him that that was his lovey.

Although we did have a phase where the lovey was a small ping-pong ball that fit perfectly in his hand.  It went to his favorite toy at the time.  Some night he even had one in each hand....we broke that one quicky though because the balls began rollingout of the crib in the middle of the night!

Not too sure about that, but marking this for ideas b/c my DD1's lovey is her soother and I do not want to make that mistake twice!!!
