How to handle this?
« on: October 29, 2008, 13:38:45 pm »
So DD is 21 months and has just woken from her nap far too early - she knows it and I know it.

She is still in bed with her eyes closed, but is rolling around and crying - like shes annoyed shes not asleep.

If I go to her and try to comfort her she gets angry and kicks her legs yet if I leave her she will drop back to sleep.

What should I do???

Has she been doing this for long? Only today?
What would happen if you didn't go in and just let her sort it out for herself?

She does it quite frequently if her nap isn't long enough.

If I left her she would go back to sleep but I hate her in there crying and upset all alone :(

I know it must be really hard to let her cry on her own, but if she wants to be alone and is going back to sleep on her own, well that's a bit of a good thing, isn't it?

Is there something that upsets her routine on those days when her nap is shortened? Is she OT those days?

I can only imagine how hard it is and how heartbreaking it must be, but I had=ve to admit that I am impressed that she will fall back asleep on her own and wants to be left alone. Does she take a lovey to bed with her to comfort her?
