Could someone please help.  My 24 month old is still in her cot and has been a great sleeper.  She takes a lot of cuddles to bed (think about 20) and insists on this to get to sleep but I remove most of them when I go to bed and leave about 3/4 small ones for her.  The past 3 nights she has flipped right out of her cot onto the floor (no previous climbing out) yelling blue murder.  When I have gone in I have lifted her up, sat with her on chair with her just hugging into me saying you're ok mummy's here.  After a couple of minutes I have said `are you ok' - YES - will we get back into bed then with our toys - YES and so I've put her down and put more of her cuddles in.  After doing this 2 times Sunday morning when she woke up at 7.40 and I brought her into our bed I said - did you fall out of your cot - Why, if you do that you'll get hurt.  She then muttered a little sentence with `mummy come' at the end.  I'm wondering does she know if she does this I will come right away.  Am not sure.  Or is because I take out most of her cuddles and she wakes and notices that they're not there and wants them.  Is it safe for me to let her have two big sized ones.  Please give me your ideas on what has triggered this off?

I'm not sure if she is doing it for the attention, but personally if she is falling out of the cot I would put her in a big girl bed which is closer to the floor.

Would she choose a few favourite toys to have in bed and make a fuss of putting the others to bed somewhere else?

I agree with Laura. I think the time has come for maybe a mattress on the floor.

Oh my gosh I have been dreading this.  My oldest went into BGB at 2 and 2 months but my DD2 is a different kettle of fish entirely - extremely spirited.  I was trying to keep her in her cot for as long as I could because I know that once the bed appears she will be in and out like a yo yo and there will be many battles.  I don't know if I'm ready to deal with that - I was hoping to hold off til the New Year if I could but at the same time I don't want her to hurt herself.
