We go to the doctor tomorrow for a check up and I think I might have DS's ears looked at.  I know he's also getting in his last molar in.  I'm sure the eyeteeth are just around the corner!

It's crazy, once DS's asleep and in his crib, he's good for the night.  The problem came up that since he fought going to sleep for an hour, he became OT (ugh!) and then woke at 10 hrs (6am).  So we have a slightly OT kiddo today....oh how the cycle can explode!

marensmama - DH said the same thing about "there always being something new!"  It seems like since he turned a year old, things have been changing each month!  I think I LOVED that first year.  :)

Our plan is to try and create the same bedtime routine every night and see how DS reacts.  If he crashes right away then we're golden!  If he fights it then we'll probably do some AP for a few nights and then get back into WIWO....I'm not sure if DS is up for GW!  He's a spirited/yet textbook baby, our presence normally works him up SO much if he knows we're going to leave.

{{{HUGS}}} to those going through SA!

Hugs. The bedtime/nap struggle is all part of the age and a big part of turning 2 now that they are becoming so aware of things. For us we had it and it was a bit of Sep Anx due to DS's mind working overtime and just that feeling of needing Mummy. I just tried to get through it by being there and yes, some days I even slept all of nap (in my bed) with him or laid beside him in the futon in his room to comfort him and get through it for about a week and then I gently weaned and removed myself from the room. IMHO, when they have such a good base since babies for sleep and don't mind going to bed in the past, it all gets back on track before you know it.  So I didn't panic or get concerned that he was changing into a "nightmare going to sleep child," I knew it was a hump and we could get through it with a bit of my help, Mum's are the best after all. I found and also find at this age if he has some bedtime issues a few days on, it seems to be  just before he is coming down with a cold/sniffles and needs reassurance from me but then is fine. Is she getting her molars at all?  That was a tough go for us for Sep Anx. Hope things get better, I'm sure they will.

A x

Hugs for you tonight-  :-*I'm thinking of you and sending you strength and peace vibes. I'm glad your LO was able to nap with you,... I agree with what Nicole said above...
Coopers Mommy- you too, hoping things go better soon! :-*

I was able to put Nick down tonight without putting my hand on him, :D...so OT- went right off...IKWYM about the climbing, frantic behavior- I too have seen this with my Nick-  :'( I usually would bend over the bar of his crib and into it and hold him just barely off the mattress, but not pick him all the way up. Hug hug hug him until he calmed down. It took a while, but he was in my arms and felt secure. Thank goodness I've got a strong back. ::)
I hope this phase passes quickly for you- you are a brilliant mommy-  :-*

Love and hugs Anne! Hope things are going ok.
Yes, that was what I meant that sometimes they can have an ear infection without the fever and that gets worse when they lay down. Lois has one now :'( went to docs this morning and she got penicillin. Had a night mare getting her to bed last few nights, she's been so clingy and you can't blame her really :(
Hope Amelia isn't unwell though I would probably get her checked out if it was me since this is so unusual behaviour for her. Good that she talks to you though, you can ask her if it's hurting anywhere. That's how I finally realised what was wrong with Lois, I asked her and she pointed to her ear. Hadn't said or showed anything before I asked though ::) Funny thing was she said only one ear hurt, but the doc said both ears were infected.

I totally agree that you shouldn't need to worry about AP with her as she's been so good with sleep in the past. If you don't feel things are getting better by leaving her, then do take a few days to just reassure her loads and lie down with her. Is she still in a cot? I did climb into the cot a couple of times when Lois was unwell before we switched to a BGB LOL
Don't worry about her being damaged psychologically. You're such a loving mum that that can't be possible. It's a phase they all go through and I'm sure it'll pass soon. Much love, Vicku xxxxx

Awww...you're all so sweet, thank you so much for the support!   I didn't end up taking her to the doc...it is not a problem at all for her to lay down, since she'll lay down and go to sleep in about 3 seconds in OUR bed!!  (major AP...I SWORE I'd never bring our child into our bed...!!!)   :-[    And she really is her normal, sweet self right up until bedtime...she's an angel, really and truly.

Last night she woke at 4 am....crying her head off...good Lord. I SO couldn't deal, and didn't even try. Just brought her right into our bed...she slept like a log, and didn't stir when I left to shower, etc.   At nap she cried for 20 minutes, and i didn't go in at all. We talked ALOT (all morning) about how Amelia is "such a big girl, and loves her bed so much, and Mama needs her to rest so we can play when you wake up", etc...

I had to work tonight, and dh and I had agreed on wi/wo every 10 minutes until she "gave up"....BUT....dh put her to bed, and she went down without a peep.

Oh PLEASE can this be over now??????  Oh please oh please oh please????

Vicku...hope Lois is better soon!!  And LOL at getting in the crib!!!  Are UK cribs the same as USA?  I can't imagine that ours would hold me! Not that I'm huge or anything, but I just think it might break??

Speechie....glad your guy went right to sleep!!  Again, thoiugh with the crib...dd's mattress is all the way down, I could never reach her down there!!  Are you 9 feet tall?

Hoping Cooper is cooperating too!!!

And aisling....you should simply write a book...you are always so insightful and put things right into perspective.

Everyone cross your fingers, legs, toes.....!!!!!

Desperate times call for desperate measures. Nick was up 3:30-6AM and very uncomfortable due to molars...wouldn't go to sleep. took him in our bed too- first time he's ever fallen asleep in bed with me...you are not alone...
Hope this passes soon for both of us, big hugs!
PS- I'm not 9 feet tall, but very flexible and can bend right over the bar even on the lowest setting, but it does cut off circulation after about 5 mins- LOL!

Got it all crossed that the phase is over.
I don't know if UK cribs and US ones are the same. Hers was 120x60 cms, and I did think it was going to break when I first climbed in, but was very desperate LOL ;D It was very uncomfortable in there though after a while... and not so easy getting out :P
We've been doing WI/WO last few nights here. Lois took 3 hrs to go to sleep the night before last, 2.5 hrs last night and 1.5 hrs tonight. Hoping we're nearly over whatever is causing her to take so long going to sleep. Don't think it's the ears as she says they don't hurt anymore. Maybe OT from being ill?? We tried lying down with her but then she just wanted to play ::)

Big hugs Anne!!! And hugs to Cathie and Coopers_mommy too, hope your LO's sleep better soon! And one for Aisling just because :)

I think we've gotten through the putting to bed (fingers crossed for tonight).  Now it's the NW's that are getting us.  I think we've decided that if it's a mantra cry, we'll see if DS is able to go back down on his own and stop running in there (that's a hard thing to break!).

{{{HUGS}}} all around!

I hope this is contagious, because we are OVER it!!!!    ;D    ;D    ;D

Went to sleep like an angel the last 3 nights, twice with dh alone ( I was at work) and once with me.  Naps are back to normal too, and I couldn't be happier!!!

I wish all of you a speedy "recovery" too!!!!  I CANNOT believe that that is a way of life (like, for years) for some families!!  Good grief!

Ahhhhhh....my baby's back!!!   Hugs to you all!!!!
