Questions about my almost 3 year olds schedule!!!!
« on: December 08, 2008, 19:05:08 pm »
My little boy will be 3 in Feb., and I feel like my DH and I are losing a battle with Ethan's schedule.  I was wondering if anyone could possibly post what their 2 1/2 to 3 year olds schedule looks like...  like what time your LO's wake up, take naps, and what time they wake up from their naps, and what is the best bedtime for his age???  Below is how Ethan's day looks....

Wakes up between 7:00-8:00 AM
Breakfast is usually about 30 minutes after waking.
Snack is around 10:00-10:30 AM
Lunch is around 12:00-12:30 PM
Nap is usually around 1:00 PM (But he usually doesn't fall asleep until 1:30, sometimes 2:00)
He wakes from his nap between 3:30-4:00 PM
Dinner is around 6:00 PM.  Followed by bath time, brushing his teeth, picking up his messes, and story time....
Bedtime is anywhere from 8:30-9:00 PM  ( But there have been times he just lays in his bed talking until 10:00 PM! :o)

How does his schedule look, is there anything we should change or tweak?  At what age do you drop this last nap?

Any advice will greatly appreciated!!!  Thank you for any advice you can give me!

My DS is 3 in Jan and stopped napping a good 4 months ago. Is he sleeping 2 hours every day? It could be time to start cutting that nap back so he goes to bed a bit earlier?

My Ds wakes at 6.30ish and powers on through til 7.30 ish. He rarely sleeps more than 11 hours at night - sometimes he'll go 11.5, but that's the way he is. Looking at your schedule, 8am wake up seems like a dream to me!!!

I love the 8:00 AM wake up time... I work nights, so it is a dream!  Sometimes his naps are an hour and a half, but for the most part, it's closer to 2 hours.  There have been days where we have skipped his nap, and oh boy is he a bear!  I've tried to wake him after an hour to an hour and a half after going down, and again he's a bear....  we would love to drop the nap, in hopes of an earlier bedtime, but we're not to sure how to go about it.  AHHHH!  lol

I'm with you on the bear front!! It's really a tough transition but then again aren't they all?! If you really want an earlier bedtime then you probably need to bite the bullet and wake him consistently after an hour or so. I find TV helps to buffer the rude awakening - and ease them back into being awake.

Maybe try it for a few days and see whether it gives you the earlier bedtime, without affecting your lovely wake time...

Maddy is 2.5 and her day depends on what happens that day.

If its been a day full of activity, its a nap day.

If its been a day of snow and cold and watching tv, we bake or do quiet activities during "nap time".

We don't really have a schedule.
Maddy gets up anywhere from 7 am to 8am. Bed time is the same.
