Xander is just over 11mths old. About 6wks ago, it was evident by our really 'all of a sudden' early wakings that he needed less nap.
No problemo. Cut the am nap down to 45 mins, pm nap to 1.5, gave 3.75/4hrs before bed and he was all good to go again. Something like 8 wake, 11-1145 nap, 3-430 nap, 815pm bed.
It's been perfect and great. He really functions off a long night better, but seems to have some big A times and little need for huge naps (but will do them).
ANYWAYS, the beginning of this week...he started to have very interrupted and broken sleep from about 615am-815am. At the final waking, he would wake sounding happy, so i assumed he was done. After two days of this happening, coupled with him shortening up his pm nap...i figured we would switch to a 30minute AM nap. I ALSO know that last week he sleep good and long and hard---seemed very growth spurt like---so perhaps the A time add on isn't surprising??
Well, the last two mornings, he has had a good 12hr sleep....and has stopped that interrupted/broken stuff. BUT NOW, he's showing me tired/bored/crabby whatever all freaking morning (and it can't be teeth--ive tried all that)---as early as 3hrs into his A time. Repeated attempts at naps...yesterday 3, today i'm only at 2 before writing this. He's in there now, seemingly tired, at 4hrs A time crying his heart out. The only time he cries like this is when his A time is NOT up---overtired won't make him cry his heart out, he really does just pass out when ot.
Interrupted by me retrieving him from his crib a 3rd time.***** At 4.25hrs of A time.
At this point in the day, i'm tempted to give him a bottle (which would normally come after but i don't want him hungry) and let him have the mother of all naps. But i really am not interested in messing with my end of day---who am i kidding, he's already doing SOMETHING!!!
He DOES and ALWAYS has added on A time faster than most...like he'll add an 1hr in one day or so and it takes me a few days to catch up! So it is possible that he's done a huge leap ...but he's only 11mths old (1yr on the 3rd jan), so i don't feel comfortable to think that this will be an everyday occurrence.
I guess i mostly just don't know how to attack this??
How many others out there---did only a 45mins am nap and then leapt straight to one nap???
My dd at least went thru the stages--45mins, 30mins, 15mins nap---then one nap. My dd was on 1 nap at age 1, for 6wks....then back to two naps for 6 wks, then full time one nap and has been great. We rarely encountered ot or short naps.
I AM following his cues, but they seem messy all of a sudden...so i think even he is left to sort something out.
HELP---any tips welcome!
