OMG - I can't believe I'm saying this, but...

...I started sleep training last night
On the spur of the moment I decided that no I would not pick him up and hold him to sleep and lo and behold he managed to fall asleep with a little sshing from me and some light pats on his chest
And he slept all through the night with just one re-plugging coz I was alert all night so ready to jump into action
9pm-7-30am
OK so probably a fluke but I put him down for his afternoon nap using the same method and guess what?? he fell asleep again and has been asleep for an hour
Please tell me this is how I should carry on. I can't believe he was able to nod off on his own, considering the fact that he has that cumbersome foot brace on at night and was kicking and wailing bless him.
Anything I should know ladies besides the fact that it can get worse before it gets better??
Just had to share my joy

Well done Sinead, and well done to Julian for catching on so quickly, hope he doesn't have a change of heart.
Wishing lots of sleep for 2009.

I did this with Finn, I was so so shcoked at how quickly he did it! One day I just led him in the cot and walked out and he fell asleep alone for the first time in months!!! He now does it 90% of the time and sleeps SOOOOO much better!! Its an angel baby thing I think!!
