Huge hugs Andi, I am so sorry for the rough night.

I find that if Abi is teething and I know she is, that if I don't give her any pain relief when she does wake (even if she is happy), she ends up getting way OT, and does not re-settle very easily.  We have on many ocassions APOP in the night just to get her back to sleep.  When she has not been well I have even bought her into bed with us :-\

The pacci could defintiely be playing a big part in the night wakings.  Do you only have the one in her cot?  We started throwing quite a few in the cot, so that Abi was able to find it herself.  Now she has gotten pretty good about it, so generally only have two on her bed.  If you don't have a bumper, how about using some small hand towels rolled up and put down the sides of the cot to stop them from falling out?

Sherry - Abi would have her pacci all day long if we let her.  She is a complete addict, and will go and get it out of her bag.  She even went through a phase of stashing them round the house, under the couches etc, just so she knew where they were ::)  Abi's addiction goes beyond the pacci though, as she cannot have her pacci without her bobo (lovey blanket), and vice versa ::)

I am finding that I have to keep them out of sight at all times otherwise she freaks cause she wants them.  I have also given instructions to nursery that she is not to have them unless for sleep. Seems to work well.

We have tired to wean the pacci once when Abi was younger, and I could not do it.  She screamed and would not sleep, and I eventually caved in.  I think I am going to do it when she is a bit older.

H - how have naps gone today hun?

I remember Paula's attempt to wean the paci.  I think you are doing the right thing in limiting to sleep.  Apparently it inhibts speech development.

Paula - that's what I've been trying too do also, that's why he's been going to his bed :)  So I guess I'll take them out of his bed also, that way when he goes to it there will be nothing there. He actually did really well today. He didn't even have it in the car and usually he whines the whole time if he doesn't have it in the car. So I was happy about that.

I was thinking - since it's only each other who's been responding to our posts - and we're all going through the same thing - lets just chat on one post. My suggestion is who ever has the least amount of pages on toddler sleep??? WDYT?

I'm up for that Sherry - a bit limited on time atm so haven't been posting much

Naps yesterday were 1hr 15 and 40 min catnap. He was up at 7 and I think down by 10.45. But something that hadn't dawned on me re the CM......she can't always pick the optimum time for him as obviously 12 ish is lunchtime for everyone, plus she has other babies and toddlers who need the cot.....so she tries to judge it as best she can to suit everyone. So I think sometimes he goes down earlier than I would necessarily try to make him stretch to. But that's fair enough. To be honest, as long as our nights are sane, I don't really mind what happens during the day - is that awful?! Last 2 nights he;s slept 11.5 and 11.75 hours with just a few moans here and there, so I'm not complaining about that at all!

Pick a post ladies and will keep you up to date on that one - gotta go do some work before I get too distracted! Am working from home today - bliss!

H

H - that makes perfect sense, as long as the nights are good, why worry :)  However, we got a 5:10 wake up here, so I was not a happy mommy about that. But he was in good spirits and stayed in his cot a long while. So I guess I shouldn't complain too much.

I have 5 pages, Sherry has 9, and H has 5 too.  Which thread?

H I wouldn't really worry about the days if the nights were decent either.

Sherry I didn't realise you had an EW.  But 10hrs of sleep after a 7pm bedtime is an EW.  HUGS hun.

It is.... even for Lyle. After yesterday's naps he really should have done 11.5. But 10.5 at the least. I really am at a complete loss..... I don't know what to do.
We went through a spell of this before. And the only thing I could come up with is that if he takes 2 naps in one day he does a short night no matter what, even if the naps aren't good. He didn't go down for that 20 min nap until 10:15 yesterday, so I didn't think that would cause it. The only other thing I can think of is that it was because his A time was too short, but he went right to sleep :(  no fuss.
