Charm - how did your night go?

Sherry - can't figure out the time difference but I guess you must be up - did Lyle wake at a better time?

Minime - how are you guys doing?

We had only an 11 hour night last night, which was weird cos he had more daytime sleep yesterday than a while - maybe he doesn't need it? And interstingly, I kept him up at 4.5 hours A time this morning, and he wetn down like a dream at 11 and is still sleeping now (you know exactly what's going to happen now don't you ;))

Hope everyone is doing OK

H

We had an 11hr night too.  7.30-6.30.  But I am quite sure she needed an earlier bedtime, probably 7 instead of 7.30.  SHe really can't handle long a times right now.  And at lunch I discover why.  MOLARS  :-[  I promise they weren't there , and suddenly they are.  Still under the gums but really swollen like they want to come out really badly.  And she has 1 on top and 1 at the bottom.  I know you have all been telling me for ages, but there were no signs except for the busted naps.  Holy cow!  Now I really feel like a bad mother.

Anyway, speaking of really low a times, after waking at 6.30 she went back to sleep at 9 (I had to put her down because she was going to sleep on the floor  ;D ::)), and yet she slept only for 45mins.  I just put her down again after 3.5hrs.  Hope she sleeps well.  And even if she does we still need to go for an early bedtime this evening.

How's everyone else?

Charm - I've had that happen with the teeth too, don't beat yourself up.

We only had a 10 hour night. Up at 5:45. Well. Slightly over, he fell asleep a little after 7:30 last night. He was also very tired acting, but I kept him up anyways until 9:05. No fuss going down.
I just let him sleep what he wanted to yesterday. He ended up doing 4 hours A time 1.5hour nap. 3.75 hours A time 50 min nap. So with more day time sleep still a 10 hour night. so I'm thinking I might just keep it like it is for now, until he starts refusing the second nap again.

I hope you all have good days like you did yesterday.

agh, at least you have a reason for the madness!!

regarding deciding when to drop the catnap, we are pretty much there as i think our bedtime antics were caused by the catnaps (even tho they were only 15mins!!). it was a two nap day here as had to go out so just did a later bedtime and he was fine. so now, it's all one nap days unless a nap goes bust.

Kirry I must have jinxed myself when I said we didn't have the bedtime antics.  We did today!  She napped for 1hr 15 this afternoon...again!!  >:(  Naps ended 2.45 so I thought 6pm bedtime.  She went to sleep ok but woke up 45mins later crying.  DH tried to re-settle her, then I tried..nothing.  We even gave her meds.  I finally took her out into the living room, dim lights, little talking, etc.  She made a big poo, changed her and back to bed by 7.  Moaned a bit and went to sleep.  Could have been her tummy  ??? ???

quite possibly, i know on the rare days that hunter doesnt do a poo, he has a really wakeful night. also molars often mean awful nappies so may just be her tummy. i'm sure you've thought of this but maybe OT from short nap too.

we did bedtime 7.45 tonight (usually 7pm), as napped 10-11 and 4 -5pm today. think maybe we should have just gone an extra 30mins as have already had nw, so prob OT. sounds awful but i would rather the quick resettle like tonight than the hour long bedtime antics we were having!!!

hope you have a good night

Hello ladies,

Sorry I have been MIA.  Huge hugs on the teeth Charm.  That is how Abi's appeared, but they took forever to cut through.  She only has her two top ones, still waiting for the bottom ones to cut.

Hugs Sherry  :-*

H - Great news on the naps hun :-*

Thanks Natasha.  One more question  ;D  How did you decide to eliminate the catnap?  Were there any signs from Mirelle?

Basically i put her down for her morning catnap one morning and she didn't got to sleep just played for 45mins i could tell she wasn't tired so i got her up did quiet time early lunch and into bed for 1 nap and she has been on this ever since. I am a big believe once you change to either 1 or 2 naps then you don't go back did it this way with both my 2. The only time my girls had/have 2 naps is if we are out for the day so they have 2 short car naps or if they are really sick.
Speaking of molars Mirelle cut 3 of hers in 3 days  ::) :o that wasn't a fun week!!!!!!

Thanks Natasha.  That was very useful.

At the moment K really can't handle the long a times.  She can't even handle what we were doing before all this craziness started.  So I am playing it by ear and taking note of a times that work for her.  This morning we all had a lovely lie in till 9am  :o :o  I even had to wake her up!  It will have to be a 1 nap day today, so am thinking nap at 1/1.30 and early bedtime depending on the length of the nap.

Paula  still :o :o on those molars.  Still can't fathom when on earth they made their appearance.

Hi ladies

Sherry - poo on the EW........same for us this morning (well at least it said 6 something on the clock, not 5, but it was 6.05 after a 7.40 bedtime. In the end he slept 2 hours 20 yesterday, so I figured I was on the right track with the longer A time - that's the longest AM nap we've had for a few weeks now. But then we stuffed it cos we went out shopping and weren't back in the car til just before 5 - he took about 25 minutes to fall asleep coming home - 5 minutes away from home of course, so we drove for another 20 minutes to give him a 25 min catnap til 6, then did 7.30 bedtime and he was asleep by 7.40 no probs......only to wake after 6. ??? ???

So I stayed in his room with him this morning rubbing his back and he dozed on and offf til 7, then got him up. Then I planned for him to be down by 11, thinking 4.5 would be a stretch as the hour dozing wasn't propoer sleep......only to get a 45 minute nap ::)

I'm going to blame teeth too!! His top front tooth is finally poking through, and this morning his cheeks have gone bright red, poor boy.

If anyone's online - would you try putting him down again in an hour? OR would you leave it 2 or 3 and see if he can do a longer pm nap - we've not done that for ages, so worried he'll only do a short nap and then it'll be a looooong stretch to bedtime......

H

;D Great news on the lie in Charm.  You must feel really refreshed.  Let us know how the nap goes.

Huge hugs H, sorry about the short nap.  I would also go for about 2 - 2.5 hours and see how he goes.

Abi slept until 8:15 this morning, so 12.5 hours, but DS was up just before 6  :o not sure what is going on with him, but his sleep seems to be regressing and he does not nap during the day.  But that is for a whole other topic.

Put Abi down just after 12:30, she has been asleep just over an hour, but has been coughing quite a bit, so not sure if she is coming down with something :-\

Hi Karen, how are things with you after youf 4:20 am wake up?

Hi there :)

H - I'm sure it's too late but Lyle usually needs at least 3 hours A time after 45 min nap, but maybe less if the first A time was so long, so I think Paula is probably about right on the 2.5.

Charm - excellent news on the Lie in. I hope she does a good nap. I've noticed sometimes and I know Jean has too that if they do a super long night then you usually don't get a super long nap. Which would be ok, just don't worry about whether OT or UT today. Just go with whatever happens.

We also had a good night last night. 11.5 hours. So I'm curious to see if a pattern is going to emerge of a few nights of 10 hours, and then a good 11.5. Put him in early last night, even though we had decent naps, so that might have been something to think about too. He was loosing his mind at about 5:45 so did a long WD and then in bed at 6:25. I think all these early mornings are catching up with him.

Paula - YEY for 8:15. Sorry to hear about DS being up though. Hopefully he was nice and calm for you so you could wake up a little slower than if you had both kids up.
