Can a pacifier still be a prop for a 16 MO?
« on: January 04, 2009, 02:47:43 am »
My LO still wakes up at night and needs to have his paci reinserted.  Shouldn't he be able to do it on his own?  He ends up waking up so much that he needs us to come in and lay him back down and put his binky back in.  Anyone else have this problem?  Any way to fix it without taking the binky away??
Thanks

Does he lose it in the crib? We used to put 6 or 7 in the crib so Masyn could always find one at night (she had a habit of tossing them over the edge!) I have also read on other threads of teaching them how to find it by making it a game during the day.

Oh yes it can absolutely still be a prop.
We had a similar problem with Colin at one point, I can't remember how old he was. What I did was put the paci in his hand when he went into the crib, as opposed to in his mouth like I had always done. It took about 4 days but then he figured out the he could do it himself and it wasn't something that had to be done by mom or dad ;)
