Have to pick up DD2 from school - how to tweak EASY
« on: January 05, 2009, 14:11:23 pm »
So in general we have a 3-hour EASY for DD1 - almost 7 weeks (although I think we are finishing up a GS and have had a bad few days today is off to a good start). We start the day at 6:30-7 each day.

I have to pick up DD2 from school ever day at 2:30 and am feeling guilty that DD1 will probably have that 2pm sleep in the car seat every day. Is that bad?! Just having the usual mommy guilt. I am thinking to try to get her into the crib when we get home, but maybe not risk a wake up?!

We've also had trouble going down for the last catnap of the day...and I am worried that might continue if she's OT. It then leads to poor night sleep.

Don't feel bad that dd2 have to catch some sleep in the car while you do school runs.  DS was never on a perfect EASY routine as he has to accommodate dd's school runs.  It did make for some creative ways of getting enough daytime sleep in him so that he would have a good night's sleep.

How long does she sleep in the car?  Is this before or after you pick dd1 up?  You can try to transfer her in her crib when you get home or just leave her in the carseat and leave it in her room.  If that doesn't work then you have several options.

- Drive a little longer and let her finish her nap.  If dd1 is with you then bring some snacks for dd1 during the drive.
- Consider the car nap as a cat nap and work catnap into a proper nap.  Not EASY but it worked for us when as ds's days were long nap, cat nap (school run), long nap then bedtime. Or there were days when I had to fit in several 45 min naps when his sleep schedule conflicts with the school runs.

Check out this forum as there are lots of moms who have BTDT  http://babywhispererforums.com/index.php?board=20.0

So don't feel guilty, you are still a great mom despite how/what her sleep schedule is.   Just make sure that she gets enough sleep in a 24hr period to prevent OT.  :)
