Changing the title of your threads 'mid-story'

Stupid question.
How do you make changes to the title of your thread/post so that it shows up on the forum board? ie wanting to add "** update pg 4 ** etc
I've tried a couple of things and had no luck

You need to modify the first post's title.  That will change the first post and any posts added after you changed it (in other words, the current replies won't have the changed title)  Does that make sense?  :-\
