Re-introduction of Dairy - How did you do it?
« on: January 23, 2009, 13:30:06 pm »
Hi ya

I just wanted to pick a few brains on how to re-introduce dairy to my lo.  I get the general idea to do it slowly but was interested to see how other people went about doing it and what they used.  My GP hasn't been very helpful and the dietitian i saw some time ago wasn't really very good either  ::)  Ethan has had a mpi since birth and over time i have seen the reaction become less and less.  I'm almost certain now he has outgrown it.  Would be interested to hear your stories  :)

Hema x

I just started a month ago re-introducing.  His symptoms are a lot better too.  I did it one ounce at a time, per day.  First day was one ounce in one bottle, then one ounce in two bottles, etc.  He's been on milk soley now for 3 weeks and seems to be going well.  Good luck to you, hope it goes well for you.

Hi Spectra,

Thanks for that... unfortunatly he doesn't drink milk like he used to from a bottle.   I give him a cup of milk after the afternoon nap and a cup at bedtime - i'm lucky if he has a few good swigs!  Maybe i could add a little normal yogurt to his soya yogurt and slowly inc that way???  I wonder if yogurt is more rich in mp than milk though??

You could definitely go with yogurt first.  I hear that some people have better luck introducing yogurt and cheese and then milk comes last.
