15 month old wants to get up at 5am! Ugh.
« on: January 24, 2009, 02:19:07 am »
Our DD used to sleep 7am to 7pm. Sometimes she'd nap 2x, sometimes only once. It never really mattered, she'd still sleep 7-7.

At Christmas she got sick. Strep, Ear, you name it. I had to sleep with her a few nights -- and we let her sleep whenever she wanted during the day (even if it was a 6pm nap until 7pm).

We have her back in her own crib now, and she's back on a routine -- but she's been up every day for the past 3 weeks at 5am  (if not 4:30)!!! She's not happy to be up. She's moaning. If we let her continue, it escalates. If we go in, she's up and ready to party.

I'm not sure it has anything to do with her illness, so I didn't post in that forum. She's been totally healthy the past 3 weeks.

Any ideas on how to get her to sleep a little later?

Her naps are usually around 9:30 am until 10:30 and again at 2-3. Sometimes they are a bit longer, sometimes shorter. Sometimes, she refuses the pm nap altogether....but then, she's never been a consistent napper.

Help. I'm 6.5 months preggers and soooooo tired!!!

Sounds like she may be ready for 1 nap as EWing is generally a big sign.
Have you tried WI/WO or GW to get her to go back to sleep when waking early?

walk in walk out and ....GW....I'm not sure what that one is. I haven't tried either, because I don't know much about them yet.

Here's the update from the last couple of days...She's been skipping the am nap (I think you're on to something!!!) and then snoozing after lunch at around 12:30. The thing is, she's only napping for around and hour...maybe an hour and 15. Shouldn't she want to sleep more? Like at least 2 hours?

Furthermore, she is still waking at 4:30, 4:45. She went back to sleep this morning after about 20 mins of moaning...slept for about 30 mins, and then wanted to get up for the day at 5:30.

The really strange thing is how happy she is. She's not miserable at all. You'd think with such little sleep she'd be cranky...like her mommy.

What time does she go to bed of an evening... maybe her afternoon awake time is too long?

She usually goes to bed at 7pm. We thought her afternoon time was too long, too, so about a week ago, we put her to bed at around 6:30 for a couple of nights. It didn't make any difference; she still woke at 4:45 both days ...and I was left feeling sad that I barely got to see her after work.

Tonight we tried the  opposite, even though it seems crazy because she only napped from 12:30-1:30. She went to bed at 7:30. I'll let you know how it works. lol.

I just read up on WI/WO...we've been doing exactly that without even knowing it. It's what we've always done. (Having said that...I DID try to get her to sleep with us one morning out of complete exhaustion, but she was up and ready to boogie!) It's like she just doesn't need the sleep. Too bad we do!
