Trying to do the Easy...need help please
« on: January 26, 2009, 20:21:03 pm »
My son in 4 weeks and I was able to put him down in his cradle at 11:30 like the schedule suggests. We used the SHH, Pat method without the paci and he fell asleep in 15 minutes. He will sleep for extended periods of time anywhere, but not in his cradle and I am trying to stop using a pacifier. He woke up at 12:15. He was crying so I changed his poopy diaper and gave him his paci which he was sucking very hard on...Should I try and put him back to sleep until 1:00 when I should wake him again to eat or should I have fed him then? I let him lay in his cradle until 1:00 and then got him up to feed. He instantly fell asleep after eating because he was so tired from only sleeping 45 minutes before...Please help.

Can you post what your day currently looks like, so that we can help you have a look at your routine.

At this age their A time is very minimal, and basically incude a feed, nappy change, quick cuddle and back down for a nap.  Most lo's this age only do A time of around 45 mins to maximum.

A lot of lo's at this age have a very strong sucking reflex, so if your lo needs the extra sucking, I can't see a problem in introducing a pacci for sleep, as long as your lo does not become dependant on it.
