mummies of short nappers - there is hope!!
« on: January 30, 2009, 11:37:11 am »
Hi ladies, I just wanted to share my success so far to give everyone a bit of hope  ;D

My lo is 15 weeks and from about 3 weeks has always been a chronic short napper.  I started EASY after looking at other routines as I hoped it would help.  Lo is spirited in all senses of the word and he was OT by the end of the day, I was desperate but I finally think I have found an answer.  He was cold and UT...

By chance I left him sleeping in his carseat when I got to my mums last week and he slept for 1.5 hours,  I could only put it down to being nice and warm so I bought a snuggly sleep suit and the next day he went 1.5 hours in his cot.  Then after weeks of trying I suddenly realised that the crying when I put him down to sleep wasn't OT but UT, he was telling me in the only way he could that he just wasn't ready, I started keeping him up longer and he started sleeping 2 hrs plus.  I only hope that things continue, I am just so pleased to finally understand what he has been trying to tell me all along lol!!

To everyone with short nappers, don't give up, sometimes it just all works out xxx

What sort of sleep suit did you get? My lo often has his longest naps in his snowsuit in either the car seat or the buggy (in the cold kitchen when I get home!)

Hi
Successes like this do keep me going...
I'm having a hard day today...my LO is testing my patience...She is 5 months and has been a short napper since 2 months...thats a long time!
I have tried everything from increase activity time, decrease activity time, no stimulation (like toys etc)...nothing works...

Anyway, dont want to go on about my LO issues - I wanted to ask how much activity time are you giving your LO now..
This morning after her short 45 min nap...I allowed her to stay awake for 2 hours...and then started wind down, she went down asleep fairly easily, but woke at the 45 min mark...so now I'm confused...cant seem to get the activity time correct...

Anyway, glad things worked out for you and your LO in the end - I cling on to everyone's success stories

xx

It's just a fleecy sleep suit, the sort with arms and legs, a bit like a thin pram suit I guess.  I bought a larger size so that I can put him in it with some of his clothes on and he is lovely and snug.

My max A time is 1 hr 45, any more or too much less and I get a 45 min nap too xx
