Nearly 7mo and naps disappearing
« on: February 08, 2009, 17:16:05 pm »
Hello

I'd be soooooo grateful if someone could help me please!   Since last Monday 2/2, naps have been getting shorter and shorter, culminating in a 30 minute nap this afternoon.   My suspicion is that the A time might need some extending, but on the other hand, we had a 45 min crib party today followed by a 30 min nap (OT?).

Yesterday looked like this:
Awake 0700ish
E 0715 (6 fl oz formula)
A 0700-0945 (put in cot at 0930)
S0945-1100

A1100-1130
E1130 solids and 7fl oz formula
A1100-1345 (in bed at 1330)
S1345-1430

A1430-1645
E1520 - 7 fl oz formula
S1645-1730 - catnap in bouncer

A1730-1830 including bath
E1830 - 4fl oz
Bed at 1900, asleep by about 1930ish
DF at 2200 - 6 fl oz

Very restless all night, but slept until about 7ish.

Today
Awake 0730ish
E0740 - 7 fl oz
A0730-0945 (in bed at 0930)
S0945-1100

A1100-1120
E1120 solids and formula
A1100-1345 (in bed at 1300, hosted cot party until 1345)
S1345-1415

A1415-1530
E1530 solids and formula

A week ago, DS was doing at least one - and sometimes two - 2 hour naps per day.

Thank you in advance!!!!!!!! :)

I'm guessing it's time for an A time increase as well.  By 7 mos, many bubs are doing 3 hrs of A time, so if you think he can handle a bit more, I'd increase...slowly, maybe 10-15 min every 3-5 days.  In terms of the 45 min crib party and then 30 min nap, that still sounds UT to me - not tired enough to sleep, so partied for 45 min, but then was too tired to sleep, thus a 30 min nap.

Thanks again!  So far so good.

Morning A time of 2h45(ish) produced a nap of roughly 1.5 hours.   Just gone down for afternoon nap after another A time of 2h45.....which leads to a little problem, namely: food.

I've had a look at the posted EASY routines for 6-9 months.  Looks like lots of bubs this age are doing 1.5 hour naps with food spaced out round the naps.   Is that what I should aim for or are 2 hour naps still achievable (she types, wistfully!)?

Thanks again
Em

umm....my dd is known as the Sleep Queen, so she was still taking 2 hr naps  then, but I know loads of bubs were doing more like 1.5 hrs.  I do remember eating got a bit weird - lots of little meals before and after naps...I was also bfing, so I would sometimes split feeds (1 boob before nap, 1 after).  If you can get a 2 hr nap...CELEBRATE...if you get 1.5 and he's happy, then that's good too :)

Okay - will do.  Thank you!

P.S.  If your DD is the Sleep Queen, then DS is probably a Minor Princeling of Awakeness (he does sleep, but not quite as much as he is "supposed" to) ;D
