hi folks

new parents here!!!

we having a few problem with getting 3 wk old baby to settle at night

he is fine during the day

birth weight - 8lb 12
he is now 10lb 12!!!
he is bottle fed, taking 7oz feeds roughly every 3.5 hours, hea;th visitor is fine with this

when it comes to night time, its taking us 2 hours + to get him to settle, so we are shattered!!!

he sleeps in a moses basket in our room,

any advice greatly appreciated many thanks

Congratulations on your new arrival!!! Have you read any of the BW books? Have you tried shush-pat to help him to settle?

Hi there!!
Some more questions about your post....
Does he cry during bedtime or does he wake up in the middle of the night? What do you do to stop it? Do you pick him up? If you pick him up, does he calm down? Does he start crying when you lay him down?

About feeding him every 3.5 hrs, I would try to move it to every 3 hrs.  Especially if you want to stick to an EASY routine.  What happens with feeding every 3.5 hrs at such a young age is that LOs can handle long A times, so your routine will be more like EASAES IYKWIM?

hi

thanks havnt read any of the books, can you recommend one?

we basically feed him on demand, when he wakes up

at night he finishes his feed, he is still wide awake, we put him in his moses basket. he keeps crying, we have tried leaving him for as long as we can but he gets hysterical.

the big probelm is just getting him to settle

I recommend "The Baby Whisperer Solves All Your Problems" by Tracy Hogg.  It covers the same topics as the first one, but with more details.  So, I think that you should read this one. 

We do not agree with the CIO method, so I would suggest you not to use it.  It does terrible things to babies.  :-\ Here's a link that talks about it.
