So, I think this discussion has come up here and there in the "What Did Your Toddler Eat Today" sticky, but I am specifically interested in the how much aspect of toddler eating. My 16 mo DD is very petite (currently at the Zero percentile for weight, but above average for height). She has never been very interested in food, and I am curious how many others there are like her. Here is a typical description on her food intake in a 24 hour period:
Wake Up: 5-6 oz milk with a small bit of Ovaltine (yes, a bad habit we got into, but I am happy to have the extra vitamins and minerals).
Breakfast: 4 oz yogurt plus a few bites fruit OR 1/4 cup cereal with milk OR one frozen pancake (which she rarely eats all of).
Lunch: I've pretty much given up on lunches, as mid day is when she is least interested in eating. Rather, I offer her a snack before and after her nap. Usually something like 5-6 cubes cheese plus a handful of raisins or some teddy grahams or something else she can eat while cruising around the house.
Dinner: A few handfuls of whatever we are eating OR 6 oz of soup OR about 1/3 a PB&J sandwich etc.
Bedtime: Another 4-5 oz of warm milk.
Basically, the theme here is that she eats food in handfuls unless she is in a growth spurt, at which time, she actually eats more like the average toddler. Oh, and as far as fluid intake, I would say she is having about 8-12 oz of watered down juice or additional milk, but that's about it.
Please, anyone else with a toddler under 2 that eats like a bird??
